shakemitkUnfortunately, I suspect these kinds of "mistakes" happen much more often than reported and more often than any of us would really like to know along with cases of gauze packing and surgical tools "accidentally" left in patients. Yes, some instances are "urban legend" or "old wives tales," but obviously not all.
Bottom line ... we're all human and subject to errors, no matter how well trained or careful. Sh*t happens.
