I have no experience with Testim but Androgel does not seem too bad, it too smells like alcohol for a little while. --FLO--

I started out on Testim and then was switched to

AndroGel and went from 5gm to 2.5 daily. I have no problems with the 2.5 level. Weight is being maintained. the main difference in the two to me was that Testim took longer to dry. This might have been the reason it seemed as though the alcohol smell lasted longer. The Androgel, even when I was on 5gm every other day dried faster. On the advice of my pharmicist, my Dr swirched me to the 2.5 daily dose since it made the TRT level more even.

And as was said, the AndroGel smell does not last long.

I was on Testim for a short period, and I definitely agree there is a very noticeable odor, although I wouldn't necessarily describe it as "awful." It also takes way too long to dry.

I switched to Androgel after about a month on Testim, and like the others say, it does not have much of an odor, and it dries within a few minutes.

If finances are a concern, Androgel offers a patient assistance program. I was a member of this program for a couple years, and I received my Androgel completely free.

If you wish neither feminization from estrogen nor return of male chacteristics from TRT, then you might consider Tamoxifen. It is an anti-androgen that was developed for women with breast cancer. It is widely used by bodybuilders on steriods to prevent feminization.

It bonds to estrogen receptors in your body, making them, preventing them to get to any real estrogen. But according to medical reports, it also functions the same way with the bone tissues so as to prevent osteoporosis.

There are many generic forms of Tamoxifen. Here in Thailand, the local version costs about Baht 480 (equivalent to about US$16) per box of 30 pills of 20 mg each. I take 1/2 a pill a day.

I also take a high dosage of calcium, Vitamin D, get some regular sunshine). This supposedly help the body use the calcium for building bones.

I also try to go to the gym to do some weights exercises every so often. The weights will help maintain bone density too.

I find that the thing Tamoxifen cannot replace is loss of energy due to low testosterone (or estrogen). So I just experimented adding a dose of estrogen gel every week or so. Seems to help.
