You should start with your GP for Provigil. It is prescribed for shift-workers , narcoleptics etc so shouldn't be to difficult for someone with excessive tiredness from a hormone imbalance to get. I'd worry about an endo that didn't know anything about Provigil and tried to pass you on to a shrink...
She knows about it but didnt really want to go there. The first thing she said was it it is a addictive amphetamine. She thought I could get a shrink to prescribe it because she didn't want to. She want me to start TRT, but that kind of contradicts why I was castrated. I will try my GP he might do it.
Thanks

Adderall is a mix of amphetamine salts and ca nbe habit forming, especially if you are inclined to addiction. There are probably millions of people in the US taking it for ADHD or as a "Smart Drug".
Provigil is NOT an amphetamine derivative and is probably easier to get fro myour GP. Do your research so you can discuss it intelligently with your doctor. Keep in mind, it's all about weighing the pros and cons of things and from experience, I know the downside of having low T and the crushing tiredness that goes with it. The weight gain and everything that goes with that can be modulated by adderall or provigil as well so you have to figure which will lead to a healthier you and higher quality of life.
I have been steadily loosing weight while on Adderall and my blood pressure and bad colesterol have gone down accordingly. I feel better than I have in many years and I am much more productive at work and in the rest of my life.

So far I am very disappointed. I thought this was going to be like flipping a switch. I haven't really noticed any difference at all. The only thing I have noticed is my wallet is 75 dollars lighter. Thank god for insurance or I would have never gotten it, before insurance it was 685 dollars for 30 days. I have called my GP and theft a message to let him know it isn't helping and see where we are going from here.

I have ADD and take methylphenidate (generic Ritalin) I asked my shrink about Adderal mostly out of curiosity and then asked druggist about the cost. I very quickly forgot about it. I switched from Ritalin to generic after I got laid off and decided to retire and was trying to get all my drug costs down since I would be paying for them after my COBRA ran out. I am still conscious of that black hole in MediCare section D and try to keep my drug costs low.

hmmm,
Provigil , my doc had me try it, with having sleep apnea, the stuff was supposed to wake me up,
guess what took some one morning, and ended up sleeping for about 2 days:-\
most definitely did not mix well with me, and to top it off,
the money I threw away, close to 300 bucks,
look at all the coffee I could have bought and got more awake from

I got put on Focalin (SP? I think it's a type of ritalin) last Tuesday. Was told to start out on 5mg a day for about a week, and if that isn't working, go to 10mg/day.
I was kinda hoping for, like, some magical ability to put effort where it belongs. Which, naturally, isn't what I got. ^^
I guess I managed to accomplish things in the first four days... but not things I had any idea I would be doing before I started on them. Certainly nothing of any immediate use.
I took 10mg yesterday morning and this morning, and I've felt worse both days. Hardly awake at all today, except for the several hours I was lying in bed this morning off in a shockingly G-rated fantasy (at least until it involved seeing an imaginary friend in the hospital because he tried to castrate himself...).
Certainly not a mood-booster. I'm not even sure if I can attribute the random things I did accomplish to the medication. 5MG is probably safer... but... I probably should try 10 a couple more days to be sure that's what's doing it.
How related this is to this topic ... I... don't really know. We were talking about similar (though more potent) medications in here...

If I didn't have insurance, my generic adderall 30 mg is $82 for 60 pills. I usually cut them in half and take it twice a day. The once a day XR is much more expensive and doesn't come in generic. It helps me focus and I don't feel like I'm in a fog of lethargy.
