That Said. If this group thinks it just fine to protest a funeral. Something that is a truly private affair, then every Funeral held by their church should have a protest of its own. It's only fair, and can they truly cry foul when they themselves did the same thing?

What better way then that to get a point accross

Turn about is after all Fairplay

I like it, go full out.

Well O'l Fred is getting up there in years. It might be wise to start planning the celebration ahead of time... Yeah make it a celebration rather than a protest. Let's keep an eye on the obituaries. I'll keep a bottle of good wine set aside for the occasion, and no one needs to actually go to the funeral. We can all just go out and celebrate Fred Phelps is Dead Day. No one has to Topeka Kansas, as I feel bad enough for the rest of residents of the surrounding community who have to live in the same state but aren't members of Fred's "church".

Funeral Protests Should Not Be Protected Say 48 States: Amicus Brief Filed In Supreme Court Case

WASHINGTON — Forty-eight states and the District of Columbia have submitted a brief to the Supreme Court in support of a father who sued anti-gay protesters over their demonstration at the 2006 funeral of his son, a Marine killed in Iraq.

Only Virginia and Maine declined to sign the brief by the Kansas attorney general.

Albert Snyder sued over protests by the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church at his son's funeral in Maryland. The church pickets funerals because they believe war deaths are punishment for U.S. tolerance of homosexuality.

The Supreme Court has agreed to consider whether the protesters' message is protected by the First Amendment.

In the brief filed Tuesday, the states argued they have a compelling interest in protecting the sanctity of funerals.

Our men and women in the United States military put their lives on the line everyday so we can live in freedom. When one of our servicemen or women dies in the line of duty we should honor their sacrifice. There are no words harsh enough to adequately condemn what those protestors did in protesting at that Marine's funeral. There are no words harsh enough to adequately condemn the ruling that orders that dead Marine's father to pay the proetstor's legal costs. Stories like this one tell me that too many people in today's world have their priorities all screwed up.

Some ideas. Don't pay this and DEMAND a jury trial. 12 people will decide if this is right or not.

Second demand Police enforce disturbing the peace! If you can't have "peace" at a funeral?

Third where is the PERMIT to picket or protest in a public place?! How is a Church the same as Main Street???

Yes, plan for Fred's funeral. Protest it when it happens. May I suggest hiring clowns, and playing "Entry of the Gladiators" on kazoos? Make it fun. Balloon animals, maybe arrange for the world's first all-clown flashmob. You know, make it festive.

Wow! Even Kansas, Fred Phelp's home state agrees that what he is doing shouldn't be protected...

As a Vietnam Era Veteran, I am aghast at the self-righteous attitude of the church. To disturb a family's grief in the loss of a loved one is as inhuman as the slaughter of over 6 million Jews and other "undesirables" by the Nazis in the 1930's and 1940's. The men and women of our Armed Forces put their lives on the line everyday to protect the rights we enjoy under our Constitution. For a court to decree that the parent of a deceased Marine should pay the costs incurred by this so-called "Christian" rabble is the most disgusting legal ruling in recent history. I say so-called because they certainly don't practice, much less believe, in what their Saviour said to "love one another as you love yourself."

States need to ensure that laws are passed to protect the privacy of any funeral service from such unwarranted disturbances by those who claim they are exercising the "First Amendment rights." These people must be so mentally unbalanced that they actually must get sexually satisfied by such perverse actions!!!

O.K.,

How about this.,

Next one of their clan who dies, be it of natural causes or be it being beat to death in back of a Gay bar somewhere, the funeral will be protested.

However, not by your typical protest techniques.

The protest method will be by simulated Gay sex... even at the grave site... maybe even a transvestite or two...

The BASTARDS deserve no less...

(I can't believe that I am saying this... 🤝shakemitk:shakemitk)

I find it simply amazing just how far some people will follow some crack pot and his asinine thinking. Remember Jimming Jones and all of the people that he convinced should commit suicide?, Rev. Moon having kids begging at airports for him?,Charles Manson having girls kill for him?

It is a shame that someone that has that kind of control over people cannot use it to benefit the group that follows them and mankind in general.

It also amazes me that all of the various Veteran Groups haven't got together and do some anti protesting at the same time.
