That is quite a bit of money, especially for those without insurance, and without well paying jobs. ( Curently making next to nothing) I would be up to my eyeballs in debt if I didn't have the charity care at the University Of Washington.
While I would agree that this is a fairly large expense, it does seem to me to be pretty reasonable. I had my bi-lateral orchiectomy done in a hospital last year and was billed for $30,241 including the hospital charges, anestheologist, my urologist and pathology but none of the pre-op stuff like my pre-op physical and lab tests. My insurance paid them bottom line $6496 which is still twice what Ms Bowers would cost.

I was just going to add the same thing. If you think $3k is a lot of money for surgery? Yikes... Thats very inexpensive.
Hopefully it makes you think hard about doing this. I would say use the time with the therapist to really sus out why this is important to you and don't move ahead if you have any second thoughts. Once done you have no way to go back.

I Guess it just surprises me how expensive things are. It shows how Young I am. Well At least I have some Great options for payment. Charity Care Is awesome. and only 11 more days till my phycological evaluation and 13 till I am back at the urologist and find out more about getting an orchectomy.
