There is one that friend showed me about three young people, one was a ghost, the others were a werewolf and vampire just trying to fit into normal everyday life as it were.

I love that show. It's called Being Human (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/beinghuman/)
There is even a wiki page with the history of the production. (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being_Human_(TV_series))
Anyway I am hooked. The characters are well written and the actors are brilliant.

I like the new show "Glee" about a school trying to form a glee club and one of the characters is a gay character. Hey wait just one gay character in a show about a glee club. We are being under represented. Oh maybe the others will come out later in the show.
I am not sure if I will continue to like "Accidentaly on Purpose". The premise is good with an older woman/person enjoying younger men. It works as a life style but not sure how it will do in the ratings.
Of course my favorite is "Big Bang Theory". I live for Monday nights and that show. I like it because they remind me of some of the friends from my social circle when I was their age. Of course we were not scientists.
I am very happy Kevin Skinner won "America's Got Talent". Love "So You Think You Can Dance" once the real dancers are competing. I do chuckle over some of the folks who think they can dance. I also watch most of the design shows.
As you can tell after a day of caregiving for a dying older man I love to put my mind on hold. Make me laugh make me love but please do not make me think.

GOOD Television?
Isn't that an oxymoron these days?
The last series I regularly watched was the new/reimagined Battlestar Galactica and the Stargate Series (both SG1 and Atlantis). I'm a big Sci-Fi and Fantasy fan. But ever since these series have ended, there has been nothing on TV which has grabbed my interest enough to get me to watch it regularly.
I also like the various "documentary" type shows such as what you'd see on Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Science Channel. To me these are always pretty good.
Truthfully, though, now that I think about it... I have hardly watched any TV in months (not even said "documentaries"). Probably no more than a total of 4 hours over the past 6 months (no exaggeration).

Ken Burns has programs on The National Parks of the USA that will begin Tomorrow, Sunday, the 27th...
I like Burns. I always learn something from him and he never disappoints.
Dave-
There is some great educational programing, well worth watching. It is nice to get a DVR to record the good stuff for later. Then it is possible to record programs and burn through the commercials.

I make no pretense that half the stuff I watch on TV is trash and garbage. That is doubly true for most of what passes as Sci Fi.
But, if you like it, I ain't going to say it's no good. I'm just not going to watch it. I mean to say -- food TV is fun to watch.

There is "Good TV" the stuff I actually watch and listen.
Then there is "Maintenance TV". My background TV.
History, History International have been doing lots of repeats
or cheap shows like restoring Tanks. Although Lock 'n Load is
fun if you stop your belly aching on the couch and let the gunny speak.
Our Yoli picked up errors in his Tank show though.
British productions are just so 99 and 44/100ths% - boring.
How do they do it?
They do it so well. Boring!
They can even make a boring war movie and that is hard to do.
Someone messed up with I Claudius, Father Cadfael and Sharpe's Company to produce some enjoyable stuff. I guess those producers got
to immigrate to Hollywood.
So currently my back ground TV is 2 hours of Little Big Horn.
What's yours?
BTW I never liked background music. TV talks.
C'est Moi

As far as British productions go, I liked Cadfael, UFO and Are You Being Served.

I watch very little TV these days, and what I do watch is primarily on a single satellite channel. For any of you in the USA who have a dish, WorldLink TV may provide an interesting diversion. Its at channel 375 on DirecTV and 9410 on Dish Network. Its goal is to provide a wide variety of insights into the world outside the boundaries of the USA.
I like watching the Deutsche Welle news from Germany, the English language news from Al Jazeera, and Amy Goodmans Democracy Now to get a wide take on happenings around the world. There are blocks of music videos daily MTV from the rest of the world. There are news specials, documentaries, and feature films from (and originally aimed at) the rest of the world.
Their web site,
www.linktv.org, has some of the music videos and a number of the recent news shows and documentaries available for viewing.
