I get the Androgel in the bottle with the pump. One pump is 1.25 grams and the normal dose I was told is 5 grams a day. On 1.25 grams I feel best and if I use 2.5 grams I start having involuntary erection at night. When I was first put on it I was told to use 6.25 grams a day and I was a beast.

One must experiment. No Dr. can really know how Testim or Androgel is really going to affect you. With Testim I tried 1 tube a day, 2 tubes a day, a half tube a day. These doses made me crazy, wildly crazy, and half ass. I finally decided the gunk was making me a bigger moron than normal so I stopped taking it and recently tried "reverse psychology" and started taking Siterone. OH, what a relief it is.!!! Clearly, for me, a life unfettered with the baggage of pointless sexual urges has been far better for my personality, mood, and well being.

Granted, there are health drawbacks of weaning oneself off of testosterone.

But in hormones there seems to be no win-win scenario.

When taking, or not taking, drugs for any reason, one must decide where the greater good lies. Are the side effects more problematic than the original condition?

In my case, Siterone and its side effects, and the side effects of low testosterone are far less problematic than the benefits/side effects of keeping testosterone levels elevated.

While my normal, non-drug state is a below normal T level, having experiences a normal T, above normal T, and now a way below normal T level, I can say without hesitation, being way below normal T level enables me to live and enjoy life without numerous mental, emotional, and physical complications of a normal or raging libido.

I was so hesitant to try drugs to lower my T. I resisted. Glad I finally got over my reluctance. The results so far only convince me that should an opportunity ever arise for castration it will be the right thing to do; and as a fringe benefit I can then eliminate the drugs and save money.

After all most of us have been through I think if we want castration, we have a fundamental right to have our bodies modified as we desire. Society disagrees. Maybe in my next lifetime voluntary castration won't be such a ball busting hot button topic.
