can they see me right now ?

✡️

The only way I could read any of your messages that weren't sent to me is to go in the back door, hack your p-word, then sign in as you, and then read. Not generally worth the effort, I would think.

Every time I just about get ready to start thinking about being active on the forums again, something like this happens to remind me yet again of why I don't post. I've been lurking on here for years and years, far longer than I have been a member, with sporadic periods of more active participation. In fact, I think I've been here in one form or another almost from the beginning (Bboy was a friend and I miss him every day).

I'm not sure why some seem to think that the "I'm a hot-stuff-moderator so go screw off" thing thing is the best way to handle these situations, but it certainly puts me off. It's possible to be firm and to set limits without going out of your way to be a jerk. Maybe people think it's funny, or cool, or it's just their personalities, but hey it's neither endearing nor attractive to me. I can only imagine it goes a long way to keeping the other lurkers like me in the lurking category. Maybe that's what the leadership wants? I have no idea. If so, it's a shame since this place has a lot to offer people who are dealing with very heavy issues.

Oh well, back to my lurking. Have fun with the little drama party. :(

A bit judgmental here, aren't we, without knowing any facts? If you want to suit your behavior and actions on what other people do (or don't), that's on you. Let other folks run your life....

For the record, it wasn't this posting that got Moi banned.

Before you go making accusations, perhaps you should request some information on why he got himself banned, as A-1 did. He asked, I told him. Simple as that.

And no, I wasn't the one who did it.

Without knowing any facts? I'd say watching a pattern of behavior for a decade or more, reading most and sometimes all of the threads, comparing notes with other archive participants, etc., etc., qualifies me to have an opinion on the subject.

I've expressed that opinion tonight and otherwise, though it sounds like it didn't get through. It's not the actions I necessarily find objectionable (though on many occasions I certainly have found them so), it's the tenor of communication and the heavy dose of attitude that comes with it that I find so off-putting.

As far as your other snarky comment, we all choose who we associate with and in which manner based on how they act. That's not letting other people run your life, it's making a choice about how much of a particular set of behaviors, good or bad, you want to be around and how much you can tolerate. We can wish things were different, but given the facts on the ground, reasonable people adjust their choices accordingly. People vote with their feet all the time.

I've made my feelings on the subject known, and I don't believe I'm the only one who feels this way. You guys can take that for what it's worth. I continue to hope that things will change, but until they do it's going to impact whether people want to participate.

✡️

Administrators can see any data that is stored on their servers they administrate. If they need or if they wish. That is the point of adminstration of server to have full access to anything on the server they manage. Here comes the ethic of administrator. Being an administrator for various servers and many of them containing sensitive or even secret data I need to keep my mouth shut on what I see. Not that I have a need to tell everybody what I see. I do not have that need. This is actually essential feature of any server administrator. As administrator you do not own the data stored on the server and you have to respect other people secrets and sensitive data as they trust you.

Administrators that can not keep their mouth shut or use the data for their own good will be fired and disgraced pretty soon. I have seen several such 'administrators'.

So far I have no reason to distrust EA administrators.

I hope this is the answer for Randy and many other people similar question.

Moi,
Paolo wrote: Sun Jul 26, 2009 3:58 pm Are they private?

Actually, no.

Any Mod. on any board who has administrative access can go "through the back door" and get into any member's account and do anything.

Personally, I would never commit a violation of trust like that.

The worst I've ever done is change A1's avatar...

LOL I remember that and talula almost banned you for it, OH my did you catch a bunch of ........... for that. 😄
