You are already off track. Your choice of suture material is wrong and dental floss is out of the question. Also do-it-yourself is a poor choice. Too many things can go wrong that you can not remedy by yourself. --FLO--

A vexed question, but the phonebook suggestion seems a good one.

Mostly the worst they can say is no.

Next worst is a hoop or two, then next worst is no.

Why don't they advertize? Mostly I think because of what was said beforfe, they can't advertize that they are willing to go against officially accepted medical practice. One the phone, it is possible that another answer is possible.

I think I've found one by the phonebook. I'll keep everyone posted how it goes.

I'm particularly interested in the East Coast. Here's one in Philly, but two letters are required.

And talking to a therapist about this really is not a bad idea. I think there are some good shrinks out there that are valuable people to have available.

I received an IM regarding the Letters, those referrals from the Counsellors which should persuade the Doc to do the good work for you. Mr T, I'm sure you're right -again. Counsellors / Therapists are a valuable resource for most of us.

Consider that your Doctor could get into some serious trouble if you were to use fake letters. And maybe more important make it difficult for the next person who does this with real letters.

Is there some reason you can't speak to a therapist? I honestly believe you will find the experience to be helpful.

Therapists are very expensive and never understand. And then they want you get on drugs telling you your problem is like totally "organic", man.

Trust me I understand there are a wide variety in the skills of doctors and therapists. But... Gotta say this - thats not my experience. I found it positive.

I did some therapy and was taught some meditation and some practical ways to deal with anxiety. There was never even an offer of "drugs" (dang!) I've dealt with a couple and they both seemed to "get it" and I've some experience with two that work with one of my kids who has some more serious problems and one gets it. The other? Maybe not but when you find one that doesn't? You can get a new one which is what we are trying.

Cost wise I don't know what to say. I have some insurance that pays most of the fees and the copays that are left are pretty low.

I and many others like me on the other hand have a medical code (violation 758.7) from birth which does not qualify as a handicap but precludes me from recieving health insurance at a minimal rate despite excellent health. I also drew a 780.2 medical code violation when I fainted at a coffee shop where a lot ambulence personell also frequented. They pretty much forced me to take a taxi ride since they couldn't find anything wrong with me other than I was recovering from the flu, it had been 25 below that night, and I was under a great deal of emotional stress. It cost $935 for 1.5 miles (about two months of insurance if I had insurance) plus emergency room and ekg doctor fees (over $2300 in all most of which the insurance would not have covered even if I had the insurance.) At least I know that I have a picture perfect heart but blood sugar was was borderline high. A glass of water was all I needed and some bed rest. Luckily I didn't get sent to a therapist for drugs (aka medications). Psychiatrists are well known to be greedy. All drug dealers are. Why would anyone pay them for anything?
