Re: Do not judge too soon
Just go on, you both are killing my bad feelings for Americans.
THAT is a good feeling to drive home with today
Paolo I never knew you were that similar to me, especially as you painted up those two kids nice and sticky. This could just have been me.
I LOVE YOU
and loveU all

Re: Do not judge too soon
I like the old, parochial, Catholic School approuch that taught there was an agent of the Devil on your left shoulder and an agent of God on your right shoulder, each advising you at every turn of life. Humankind's divinity is in the power to distinguish the two voice as right/wrong, good/bad. moral/immoral, ethical/unethical .
Because of this belief I am told I am 'gnostic', go figure ? A what ?
And because of my WHAM-BANG-POW experience, and other 'receptions', I am told I am a number ten believer on a scale of one to ten where one is an atheist. I don't mean I was told any of this once or twice. But, commonly when I really get into such discussions, face to face and some e-friends.
What I am trying to say is "to judge" is what makes us divine. That our current world economic situation, corporate thievery by any name, etc. is a result of the "go along, get along" philosophy. Years ago I asked a neighbor who I had deep discussions with, when would a friend tell a friend they have crossed a moral or ethical boundary in their decisions? Doesn't happen.
The balance between profit and "but it would be wrong" certainly got skewed.
But, it isn't just them, it is "us" too. Through judgment, choosing to do the right thing at every moment. Look at our neighborhoods. Children's sports, parents at schools, church activities, Homeowner Associations, how local we can see Individual's compliance to what they know is wrong.
Bring back, Judging.
Oh no ! Oh no ! Someone is going to write, judging leads to denial of someone's civil rights.
Down militants! Heel ! Nice militants, nice . . .

For my feeling, telling somebody that you have the feeling that whatever he is doing is wrong. Or explain that you would never do this, is far from the negative meaning of Judging people
It would be a great thing if people were more open and clear in these matters that is what I agree with you. But that is not what I call Judging
About that story of two little fellows on your shoulders.......Cann't be:
God and the Devil are the two extreme limits of one person. And you are just like him. You cannot send one away, neigther can HE. This way, our choises make us to who we are

I agree.
One day an idiot made me really mad. I then had a discussion with the owner of the place she lived in. After reviewing the idiot's behavior, I shared my intention to tell the idiot what I thought, and in unpleasant terms. The guy told me, "I wouldn't do that, but you can if you want to." That simple, gentle statement helped immensely. I re-thought what I was about to tell the idiot. Oddly enough, after all was said and done, I was the winner.

I don't like the story either. What the F'N helll is a grunt doing having three kids? You can't raise a family on an infantryman's pay without assistance. And I would never have a family when my job put my life in such danger. How damn selfish of this man to leave his three children without a father. And further, the story glorifies war, if it weren't for all the lazy asses on welfare, including all the CEO's, either taking to much or contributing to little, we probably would not have to engage in external conflicts. And I have never had someone come up to me, say "Hey buddy, I'm on welfare, and I wanna help you free of charge! You look over worked/taxed and I'll wash your car, cut your grass, walk the dog."
My generational experience has been that the welfare system has been a way of life for countless people to do nothing on the backs of the shrinking middle class. What bothers me is that this government is using my middle class values, ie help those in need, obey the laws etc., to grow the lower classes. It's like they are helping themselves to old american values so they can prop their political careers or turn a profit. And resenting the poor never does any good, they are to stupid or plagued with disease, to help themselves.
Welfare fraud is not commited by the individual. Welfare fraud is commited by the state when the individual says they can not work, and the state grants them benfits paid for by the working. It is a fraud commited by the state against the contributing law abiding citizens. A fraud commited against the hearts of all americans.

Agreed, it is all about our choices. The model of one dynamic force with two extremes or the Catholic School model does not matter to me because it all acknowledges our, choice. And that requires, Judging.

And that Judging is what you have to deal with for yourself especialy after you finished your live.
It is up to you, if you like to judge other people. I never want to do that. I give you my vision and my advice. Don't get yourself into big problems for the moment there is no escape anymore, and you have to judge yourself according to universal rules. HE will not judge you, there is no way out, YOU WILL DO IT, and if you don't want to understand, eternal live is a hell.
I am not judging you

Re: Do not judge too soon
I've read through this post a couple times.
How boorish does anyone have to be to stand in a supermarket line and spew out a continuous bitch, bitch, bitch? What sort of ego says "I am so important, the supermarket line must bow down and serve me as quickly as I think I need to be served!" Boorish behavior at it's height.
And worse, what sort of self-indulgent bore thinks it is his/her/its duty to call out boorish behavior in public? Are we supposed to tell other diners in restaurants that their manners are less than perfect? IF someone says a "naughty and offensive word" on the street does that give anyone permission to denounce them and publicly berate them?
That's just equally as boorish.
I have an acquaintance who hates being near small children in restaurants because he is impatient and egotistic and the kids spoil his dinner. So he usually bumps a glass over on his table or onto the floor and then changes tables without asking. I know that one restaurant threw him out and told him never come back for acting out like that. He was 6 years old at the time and not 12 or 14.
Now for the reality.
I don't care. Life is too short to let the strange and odd denizens of a supermarket piss me off and spoil my day. I'm never in that much of a hurry, nor am I that impatient with others.

Maybe I had a good practice. If they call you here that your motorbike is ready, and you are going to take it, it will take you at least three hours before they finished all the problems they forgot about. The supermarkets are clouded with Vietnamese people who are making it a tourist attraction. They don't need to buy anything, they like to look at the new products, they never knew before, and if it is hot outside (always) the airco inside the supermarket is for free.
How should I dare to complain, I am a guest in their country, and if I am feeling to hot, I do exactly the same. I am not going to lose that war, I am so happy to let them win
