While this has nothing to do with trt per se, I've been taking Zoloft now for the last 7 months to counter depression. Its affect has been to shut down libido and while I can get hard makes it almost impossible to have an orgasm. In conversation with my therapist we hit on a combination of epemedium saggitatum (horny goat weed), saw palmetto to protect the prostate, and a product called Testosterole, a combination of DHEA, some herbs which provide prohormone for testerone development and yohimbe. This has resulted in a return of libido and a more likely incidence of orgasm without disturbing the effects of the Zoloft.

I kind of feel that with the amount of herbs I'm consuming, if I miss my veggies I'm well covered anyway. :tongueout

I don't see why that would surprise many people. After all as Andrew points out from time to time YMMV. (your milage may vary) They give hyperactive kids with attention defficite disorder uppers to calm them. Why wouldn't the big "T" function the same in some men?

BroBear,

Our experience with the ups and downs of "T" seem to be very similar, with the exception that I would like to have my large balls back (isn't going to happen.) Forgot to mention that I am also on Paxil. They put me on it for my depression before they knew what the real problem was. I want to get off of it, but the Doc says I need to complete the minimum 9 month course. Thanks for sharing your experience.

IEunuch,

I forgot to mention in my last post, that I have read that with shots your T level can be 3 to 4 times higher than the mean average for the first few days. Sounds like what might be happening to you. (Haven't tried the shot, myself.)

Andrew,

I might have experienced that Eunuch "calm" to which you often refer. When I was at my worst, I had an amazing change in my emotional/mental perceptions. I had some extraordinary spiritual/psychic experiences (I'm a bit strange that way.) Maybe these were something like some people get through meditation. Couldn't handle the severe physical problems, though.

Thanks to all for the info.

JayBee

I have been on Androcur sense September, no sex drive at all but I have not had my T level checked either. that happens next week. Like Anthony I do feel the eunuch calm, but some days like today I am ready to kill something or someone. Its good to be home and safe. As for T levels, I want mine as low as possible. For the most part I am enjoying my life for the first time.

Yes, most definitely low T levels can cause depression. Or they can make an existing depression MUCH worse. Believe me, I know.

JayBee: I know. That's the big downside of getting T by injection. You get a huge spike, which then dwindles down to almost nothing over the next two weeks, then another huge spike.... It's really hard to maintain an even keel. Unfortunately, this isn't something I have to worry about at the moment.

IEunuch.

I agree that HRT brings on a more active libido and greater emotional and physical energy levels. I take T by injections every 2.5-3 weeks - 200 mg a shot. Because I'm ballless my doc would give me more if I wanted it. As has been pointed out, those with balls on TRT will see them shrink (use it or lose it).

I just asked a question of you over in the Gay forum about your ability to have erections and orgasms after castration, but when I wrote it I did not realize you were using TRT. So you can ignore the question.

I have been on Depo-Provera since September. I have no sex drive either & I, too, experience the "eunuch calm".

As far as depression is concerned I am happier than ever, but then I am an "elective". I guess you could say that I am as giddy as a pre-pubescent boy!

And that word "elective" may very well be the key as to whether one develops "The Eunuch Calm" or a case of depression.
