From the posts that I see here I'd wager that Kimmel is a staph carrier. He carries a low-grade staph infection that infects a high percentage of infections upon those whom he does surgery upon.

The staph infection rates seem way too high. IT could be that his sterile technique is poor. Or, his autoclave could be defective. OR, he could use an antiseptic bath for his instruments instead of an autoclave.

IT is not unusual for urologists who only do urological procedures that do not involve surgical incisions to use antiseptic baths for sterilization purposes. However, certain bacteria, also certain fungi have a spore stage in their life cycle and nothing will eradicate them and create sterility but an autoclave.

The problem with doctors doing procedures in their offices or in clinics is that there is no peer review and no infection control committees. I'd recommend that anyone who wants this procedure done as an elective procedure should use hormonal therapy and take their time in finding a real hospital and a doctor who practices there to do this surgical procedure.

Hey A-1. Not being a medical person, I wanted to get this correct. You reckon he personally has a staph infection or is it just staph floating around his clinic or on his surgical tools?

if its mersa

there is no getting rid of it

all hospitals are contaminated with it now..and there is no good way to clean it up

Mersa has become a real problem the last 2 years

My father got it after a turp surgery last year and almost died

My mother in law got it after a office gyn exam a month ago and went into shock and almost died as her blood pressure dropped to zero

Just dont get surgery anywhere right now till this Mersa thing gets solved.

Could be either. I'd bet that if he does not have a hospital to practice in that there must be a reason.

MERSA is everywhere. So really it is hard telling but obviously something is wrong somewhere.

I want to tell you a little story. It is true. Once there was a small town where the general practicioners referred delivery of almost all of the babies, there were only a couple OB-GYNs in this town, years ago, you know.

There arose a problem with staph infections in male babies who had circumcisions after they were delivered at the hospital and circumcised there before being sent home. Since the OB-GYN did not do circumcisions, they let the GP's do them. Rather than to 'out' a colleague (or a nurse) as the facility demanded and ruin a career, the DOCS passed a mandate at the medical staff meeting that all circumcisions were to be done in the office.

Guess what? no more staph infections in newborn circumcisions.

Bottom line? Ever hear of Typhoid Mary? Google her and see what you find out. Could be his assistant, too. You never know.

Helsinki, I am glad that you are giving a detailed account of this horror. I wish you a speedy recovery. Are you completing your transition to female despite these problems?

What an appalling story. Helsinki, I hope that your recovery goes well from here on out and that it all comes good. It sounds like you are now in good hands. Clearly these proceedures by Kimmel are life threatening and he should be reported to the medical authorities. I guess that maybe the medical fraternity have tightened ranks and are protecting him as one of their own.😠

📢It is really unfortunate that any one desiring elective castration is forced into dealing with the Kimmels and other marginal practitioners of this world. The real problem is the tight restrictions placed on voluntary castration and modification by the medical regulatory fraternity that forces people into taking these kind of risks. The surgery is, in fact, quite simple and low risk when done professionally in a proper sterile environment. The current restrictions on voluntary castration are just placing lives at risk. The answer to this problem is to provide a well managed system that would allow these proceedures to be carried out more freely for those that want them done on an elective basis. 📢

Just got back on line after being away in Japan for 2-weeks. then the ice stprm took out our electricity....

Thanks for telephoning me, Helsinki. It was so nice to hear your voice and know that you are starting to heal finally.

I'm beginning to think that I was one of the lucky ones, in that I did not get an infection from Dr. Kimmel's surgery. Helsinki's description of the surgery and the room are quite accurate. I too was overdosed with Lidocaine - my symptoms were similar to having a stroke with numbness and trouble speaking and formulating thoughts. Wow! Now I understand some of the problems that happened afterwards with the sutures.

I guess Helsinki may have been the last of Dr. Kimmel's patients before his practice ended.

Day 81: I saw my urologist again. Since the last visit (day 25), the wound has shrunk a lot and the drainage is now minimal. It looks as though the wound will heal before the original estimate of six to eighteen months.

That's good news. Hang in there. (pun intended)
