Hi Friend,
As a former Navy man, I am shocked at the lack of treatment after your accident. Did the Military Police on the base do an "Accident Report" for you. THat would document the time and place of the accident. In the Navy, one must have paperwork, paperwork, and paperwork or the system will not recognize you have a problem. Did you get the license # of the SUV that struck you?
Follow through and go up the chain of command about your issues and KEEP ALL correspondence from the chain of command. By the way, you CAN contact your US Senator for help. You didn't give up that right for a redress of grievances when you joined the military!!!! I would try following the chain of command first and if you are on active duty and it happened on base, then the Navy is responsible---for negligence at least. A hit and run is also a felony in most states too!
I was exposed accidently to live chemical & biological weapons during a drill on my ship (a carrier) and sent back to the States from the Mediterranean Sea to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. Due to the nature of my injury, I was retired from the Navy at 20 years of age. However, they couldn't discharge me because my personnel and pay records were "lost!" After personally checking on the status for one week, I wrote to my U.S. Senator, who was on the Armed Forces Committee and he contacted the Navy (with a copy of the letter to me) and guess what??? The Navy found my records within one week!!! I was then sent home and my discharge papers followed within two weeks along with my regular pay for an E-3 as well as pay for my unused leave balance. It can be done. Just use the system.
Good luck to you and hang in there.
