One of the requirements put on me by my urologist was to go on HRT to prevent osteoporosis from developing. I have had no development of it since my castration 3 years ago. Of course, if your insurance does not cover hrt, then it would be expensive. I checked and found my insurance covered it. That was a decising factor in him doing the operation. Yes, it is expensive. The dr. was the cheapest part.It was the outpatient surgery center that jacked the price up. Doc was less than $500.00 but the surgery center was $2900.00. But I am happy with the results.

For injectable cypionate, a month supply should run about $65 plus syringes ($2.00), as compared to Androgel at about $350 per month for 5 gm packets. Expense depends on how you do it. No insurance, inject; insurance, androgel....

I guess what I'm asking is what does "being sexual" mean to you? And if losing your ability to have an erection would decrease that ability, why are you interested in the subject/fantasy? Since I've been on HRT for at least five years (due to hypogandism), my testicles are about half the size they were ten years ago. I normally can't see them in my scrotum. What's there is hard and rather small. My sac has also shrunk. I really have no use for either my testicles or my sac, so yes, if my doctor recommended it and my insurance paid for it, I have them removed.

Don't think I'd miss them. I would miss the HRT.

I am glad nobody outright said yes money is the only obstacle. In my opinion there are two types of people in the voluntary castration game:

1-Those who are going to become castrated come hell or high water.

2-Those who shouldn't be castrated.

I was part of the first category. I was put back $3,500 when it was all said and done. I saved for a long time for that money. Would I have still done it if it was $35,000?.. yes.

That's pretty much it. We are all so different. I digest things very slowly. Having someting to reflect on helps me understand others motivations. I feel blessed that I completly understand my castration fixation and harbor no ill will toward my abuser. Nor am I an emotional wreck or serving 20-2-life.

I just want to read more on others motivations to make myself more comfortable. Through your eloquently posted self exploration on the board, I completely understand your motivation. Same symptoms different cause, facinating!

When I started on hormones, my medication was covered. after about three years, they connected the dots and stopped paying, even after my doctor talked to them personally. Now, I have to pay on my own and it's terribly expensive. Anyway, I assume that they would never pay for a castration but if they would, I would do it in a second.

35 years ago, my vasectomy cost about $100 and took one hour. A bi-lateral orchiectomy should cost the same since the actual surgery is very similar. Does vasectomy cost $3000 today? dr. kimmel charged me $2,000 for the actual surgery. the other $1,500 came from the hotel, flight, and cheese steaks. Dr. kimmel also offers a $250 discount for those in financial hardship. i looked online and the average cost for a vasectomy is about $700. Dr. kimmel is the only MD in the US who performs castration on demand. I dont think he is taking advatage because he could charge a lot more. The surgeons in thailand charge about the same as kimmel. Do you think their prices are more likely determined by comparing what dr kimmel charges or determined by their costs of the surgery and making it worth thier while ?
