One thing that crossed my mind that plays into this thread...

In biblical times there was the danger of people getting killed off plus many children died when young, so it was important to have many children to keep the family line going. Also, having a large family was a form of Social Security as your children were suppose to take care of you in old age. So it was in there best interest to not be castrated.

Although my castration was for medical reasons, I must admit that I had tended thoughts of doing it before I was told I must. I'm not sure how the church feels about elective castration but even though I was not in a position to choose, I found that I had more peace of mind about physical castration as opposed to chemical. For what its worth.

And too many people are breeding as though life is still short, infant mortality is still high, and even a simple injury results in death. Recently I watched a TV programme about Gaza, described as "one of the most densely populated places on earth", then we were introduced to a man who has TEN children! I thought, "Hmmm, there could be a connection there!"

Move on from Deuteronomy and read Isaiah 56:3-5. "Do not let the eunuch say, "I am just a dry tree." For thus says the Lord: "To the eunuchs who keep my sabbaths... and hold fast my covenant ... I will give... a monument and a name better than sons and daughters". This is reinforced with Philip being sent to the Ethopian Eunuch (Luke 8:26) and converting him to Christianity. Eunuchs are perfectly acceptable to God.

im a born again Christian, i want to stay in God's will at all times. i have prayed for over a year about becoming a eunuch and so far i have had nothing but peace and open doors. in the bible there is not much about castration.. the only verse in the NT about eunuchs is matthew 19:12 but that verse doesnt really make perfect sense to me. i take it as spiritual and not a decree to become castrated. in the law there is Deuteronomy 23:1 which reads "He who is emasculated by crushing or mutilation shall not enter the assembly of the LORD." how did you as a Christian, decide that castration was acceptable in Gods eyes ?

I think a good proposal would be that at puberty everyone has take an IQ test, and if they fail it then they walk out a eunuch! This would cut down on the world population and increase the IQ level as well....

In wild animals, without hospitals and with predators, nature handles that issue magnificently.

In the 30's, 40, 50's and even through the early 70's, it was EUGENICS (the "Carry Buck" Supreme Court decision, one of the most vile ever). nearly any reason could be found to have another adult or child sterilized. In the end though, I'm so much of two minds on your proposal, I just see too much poverty repeating itself. BUT, since I'm gay, I also oppose any effort to tell me how I should my life.

As to Biblical questions, the NEW Testament is the book of Jesus. Part of the basis of the Christian tenants is that we are judged by how we treat others, not that we follow strict rules and regulations as set forth in the Old Testament. Many people use Leviticus to treat Gays and Lesbians as demons as they eat cheeseburgers. When was the last time you owned a slave or participated in a public stoning?

The most major tenant in Christianity is that we accept that we are human, that are flawed and make mistakes, and that our will will lead us astray, it will. It the acceptance of Jesus' love of us for our flaws that he gave his own life that matters most. There is a section in the New Testament (Matthew, I believe) that you must accept what is normal FOR YOU. Too many "Christians" forget these very critical last two words. I am gay, for me it is normal and I accept it. For others, they are straight and they accept it. What the quote affirms is your right, in God's eyes to be what is what you feel is most normal or "correct" for you.

As you can tell, I don't know the each chapter by name, but in the Old Testament the is a small part that in part reads (bad quote, someone else can find the exact text): ....the Lord shall hold in higher esteem eunuchs...

And I commented, I am Gay, as many here are. I often come across people that became "born-again", and in the process, somehow lost the meaning of the gift that Jesus gave us all, Gays and Lesbians included. I pray you have not.

In the end, it comes down to:do you want to be sexual or asexual (or even a bit between). Keep in mind, that for MEN, there are medical implications that come with it when choosing to be castrated.

This is caused primarily by the drop of testosterone levels levels to that of a prepubescent boy unless you go at least some maintenance dose of HRT.

Speak to others that are castrated here about their experiences with this, I don't have first hand knowledge. The level or your sexual drive after castration can be controlled by what dose of HRT you go with.

Matthew 19 covers the broader area of accepting "normal" FOR YOU. Most people believe that what is normal for them should also be "normal" for everyone else. "There is no normal life; just life."

Overall, I see very little in the New Testament that addresses this issue, and what little there is affirming...

You didn't mention your age. If you are a young man and choose castration, you can still have a family. There are so many children who would love you to adopt them, castrated or not.

I believe that he does not care what your sexual practice is! We are hear to learn something and report back. This world is the illusion and heaven is the reality. Starting to deviate from normal Christian teaching. God will give us as many lives as you want, so that you can obtain the level of perfection you want.

Would any decent father kick his kid out of house for breaking a rule? No, so then why would Father God kick you out of heaven for breaking one of his?

God loves you and will never turn his back on you, but you can turn your back on him.

Not wanting to get into any flame war, but personally I do not believe in Satan or Hell! They were both created in the 1400s and written up in a book called "Dante's Inferno" before that it was vague.

How to worship God!

- open a door for someone

- help out that person in line who needs just a bit more money

- hand out gift cards to strangers

- be nice to people

How to NOT worship God

- push someone out of the way so you can get in faster

- laugh at that person who needs just a bit more money

- be greedy and horde everything

- growl at people (ok bratty screaming children in stores do not count!:D)

There is no one correct religion because they are all worship the same deity in some fashion. (well there might be a few occult-ish ones)

Religion is not about worshiping God it is about being in a community of like minded people.

I am Gay too! and Do not get me started on "born-again" nut jobs! There is very little difference between terrorists and "born-again" people. They are both fanatics that do not listen to logic and reason because they think they know better.

Part of our job has humans on earth is to learn how to get along with each other, and if we do not humanity will destroy itself or God will allow something to happen that will force us to learn to get along.

I was asking the original poster what his age was. That question can help guide a man in making the decision. His age can effect changes in all three areas. As for having children... ADOPT. Too many kids just want a loving home, not a foster home. Too many people are having children (through IVF, using my insurance dollars, I don't think insurance companies in other countries pay thousand per try for IVF) when good children just want a home.
