I'm now convinced it is a similar problem to what other users are having. Not a huge issue, it would just be nice to use the same name.

Thanks to IE for answering the core question. I know it is a difficult process to get this running so appreciate the technical response to my logistical question.

I remember programming in the good 'ole days, couldn't figure out how to do it now! So I appreciate the efforts of the staff to get such items running.

You are right, 'Supernumerycloaca' is likely safe. Not only for the reason you state, but also because no one other than you would be likely to even think of it

OK, by going in and using another user name I have been able to confirm that I was beat to the punch on using the user name I've been using here for 10 years. Is there any way that I can get that name assigned to me. It seems fair, after all I've been using the name consistently. People here know I use that name on the message boards, but now there is a second person using it on the personals.

Had I known the system was live, I would have gone in as soon as possible and and signed up for the name I use here. Now someone in New Jersey is using it instead of me. It seems very unfair that I cannot use the name that I've used here for nearly 10 years.

Yes, I'm throwing a tantrum. I don't view the use of my message board name by another person as theft (as bobbie said it would be unwise to steal names above) it's probably a simple matter of I was beat to the name by someone else.

Any help the mods could provide is greatly appreciated. I think it's only proper that people using the name on the message boards should also get to use it in the personals system. Otherwise people that read my messages here and try to contact me there, or vice-versa will be confused.

Any chance one of the leaders can mediate this?

I am having the same problem. I am using the username and password that I log into EA with.

skivvynine (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/member.php?u=28741), as near as I can tell you haven't signed up for the personals. At least no account exists with that username.

If I might point out, the personals DO NOT interact with VBulletin data and User ID's.

You have to sign up on the personals, just like you did with VBulletin.

Being registered in one does not make you registered with the other.

I can't sign up to personals. Seems my username AND my e-mail are already in use.

I used the old personals years ago and met a nice lady there. Is there old data left over? Well, I wasn't signed into EA when I tried to sign up in personals, so I'll try again in fifteen minutes.
