Another older book reference comparing Byzantine eunuchs to angels can be found in Rene Guerdan's 1956 work 'Byzantium: Its Triumphs & Tragedy' (translated from the French 'Vie, Grandeurs Et Miseres De Byzance'), in which he devotes a short but nevertheless interesting chapter to the subject titled simply 'Angels' (pps 45-48).
