Castration Issue plus HRT to follow.

Post by patricia (imported) »

I spoke to my GP re having HRT to live as female and my GP suggested that to have an orchidectomy first as this reduces the amount of hormones required to over ride the testosterone, thus saving the punishment on your liver. The only catch is that I have to see the Psychiatrist prior to the proposed gender change. I think the motto is hasten slowly, I personally think that it can't happen quickly enough.:):)

The waiting time is designed to make sure that the changes are really right for you. Living as a female full time is a test to see if it is really you. Taking the physical castration too fast often is the wrong choice it turns out to be. Any good surgeon would follow a set rules of standards that are set for all transgendered people.

Agreed, do the chemical castration first, take your time.

I know you want it now but its best when you take it step by step yes it does take longer but most of all you want to get it right.

Good luck on your journey and congragulations.

I am sure you will make a wise decision with the Dr's you are working with, the Psychatrist is just to make sure you have yuor marbles and you have not problems and know aht you are doing.

I think SRS requires a year of hormones and living as a female but I don't know about Orchiectomy. Talk to your doctor about whats required. It might be as simple as talking to a shrink and getting a letter or two.

Good luck!
