Is there any reason why this can not be done at the same time?
Also having had a vasectomy some years ago does reduce the time that an orchiedectomy takes?

Re: Orchiedectomy plus scrotum remove
Having had both, well scrotum reduced a lot, it was done at the same time and having a vasectomy makes no difference one way or the other. It only took an hour and a half or so as I remember its still going to take that long depending where and how you have it done. Best on that is to ask the Doctor doing the Castration.

Re: Orchiedectomy plus scrotum remove
Someone before asked about if a previous vasectomy would complicate a castration just at the time I was scheduled for my bi-lateral orchiectomy. I was awake during the procedure and just before my urologist got down to business, I asked him that question and he said it didn't have any effect.

Just fyI: A vasectomy can cause problems, if it gets infected, or ruptures. That, however, has nothing to do with an Orchiectomy and scrotem removal. spankey2

Re: Orchiedectomy plus scrotum remove
Those doing the surgery usually want to know if you want the scrotum removed a the same time. I have been told that they only take off about 3/4 of the scrotum and the rest shrinks. Don't want it too tight. Even without scrotum removal I have been told it shrinks quite a bit in about three months. Just ask the Doctor.

A vasectomy will not matter when an orchiectomy is done since everything gets cut away. I recommend against scrotum removal unless you have one of those pendulous ones that hang halfway to your knees. Everything will shrink afterwards.

I'm 5 days post-op and I've already noticed my scrotum shrinking. Now I'm just waiting for the T levels to hit rock bottom so the estrogen can start working its magick.

Re: Orchiedectomy plus scrotum remove
Oddly enough, my empty scrotum hung just as low after 4 years as before my bi-lat Orchiectomy. So, I had it removed. Doc did not say he would remove it during the removal of my balls. I even told him I wanted it removed. He probably thought I would change my mind. Last Aug. when I asked about a plastic surgeon to remove the empty sac, he decided he could do it. He did an excellent job. Those whose sacs have shrunk on their own are lucky. But, Insurance paid for mine to be removed anyway.
