im thinking about being surgical castrated and im wondering does surgical castration work as much as chemical castration is it true that you can still have erection and all the things does it kill sexual desire and sex drive? sorry for double thread delete my other thhread

I never tried chemical castration but have been surgically castrated. I can still get erections and have erotic dreams like the one I had last night. I can still have orgasms but of course with very little or no ejaculate.

As far as sexual desire my last boyfriend did more to kill it than castration. Seriously I do think of sex and notice attractive men. Castration was like a kill switch for me. My head may think it but my body does not need to act upon the thoughts. Once the attractive male is out of sight he is out of mind. I no longer obsess over someone and desire to be with them. While I may still think of sex it is with much less frequency than before.

If you read back through the archives the impression I get is that for most there is very much reduced or even eliminated libido. But people's experiences have varied dramatically.

I have wondered - and I have no evidence whatsoever for this, just a feeling - if the experience of castration could be influenced by what one sought in getting castrated. eg if you have a profound desire to be sexless there's a higher chance you will be than if you seek castration for other reasons or (especially) it if happens by accident.

Am I shooting in the mist with that thought or does any other member think there might be something in it?

I am a married eunuch and have been a eunuch for the past 5+ years. I am not on any HRT now and have been off for the past 8 months. No testosterone, due to castration, will crush your libido, shrink your hardware, eliminate night erections, make erection limited and difficult, stop ejaculation, orgasm (when rarely experienced) will become dry. I was able to have erections and ejac for a few months after eliminating testosterone but that gradually diminished to where it was gone after about 6 months. If a person is certain that they do not want any of the above I suspect castration is more effective than chemical castration and is probably safer. It is permanent tho and not to be entered into lightly. No turning back from castration..

Yes, I get the same feeling from many posts. Voluntary eunuchs tend to adapt very easily and happily into their new being. They are generally more content. Those who have had it forced upon them for whatever reason (accident, disease, abuse, etc) seem to have a difficult time accepting being eunuch. Almost universally there is a reduction in libido and associated physical response from sexual stimulation. Those who were brought into eunuchism unwillingly seem to fight this change. I believe that is one of the things that leads to so much depression in forced eunuchs. Just my thought.

This is contrary to just about everything I have read on the subject. Surgical castration and loss of testosterone supply comes with a host of potential mental health issues, especially if done for the wrong reasons. A large number of surgical eunuchs report severe depression after the op. One must be very sure that they are going for it for the right reasons, ie not for a sexual fantasy.

There are too many accounts of real distress and unwanted consequences to believe this could be generally true.

Nor was it quite what I had in mind with my question.

More that if one sought castration in order to be sexless there was a greater chance that would be the result. Conversely if one sought castration wile remaining sexually active there would be a greater chance that would be the outcome.

Just a chance, not anything like a universal experience.

I'll let you know in September. My therapist is giving me the letter to get my orchiectomy and I have it planned for the second week of next month. Physically and psychologically it's going to be a huge boost to me, I'll almost feel that my body is right for the first time. I'm just having a "hard" time getting the last of the funds together.
