Re: Effects of surgical castration on older men?
Hi.
Interesting question. I was 59 when castrated and am now 65. I have noticed very little change in my physical body, especially when on HRT. I have been off HRT for the past 8 months for medical reasons and have noticed a loss of strength. Off HRT I have noticed my skin becoming very soft and smooth. I have no libldo now and erections are a thing of the past. There is no ejac during orgasm either. My mind works different than when on HRT. Would be glad to discuss with you in length if you wish. My castration was not due to any life threatning health issues. I am married.

It could end up releasing your repressed inner alter-ego with the danger of it replacing the ego that had previously defined you culminating in certain social consequences. --Just thought I'd throw that out there and I sure wish I knew what the hell that means but seems that my alter-ego may not be wanting me to know. Or is that my ego? Nevermind.

Alter-Egos are very good things to have. I let mine run amok quite often.

Cheers,

As far as exercising, I have not found any loss of stamina. I do 2.5 miles on the treadmill in about 40 minutes. Sometimes I feel tired afterward but most of the tiime I attribute that to the amountmof sweating I do...soaked t shirt , etc. Actually I notice the changes in stamina and strength when it comes to mowing the lawn and weeding my wife's flowers. (Probably because I wish I didn't have to to it)
We both go to the gym three times a week, Tue, Thur, and Sat. My wife is lucky because her health insurtance pays for her Silver Sneakers Program. Since I am not part of her police I have to apy 30 dollars a month or 75 dollars for three months. that is usually the way I pay. I hope to be sdown to 160 by Dec. After that I will just keep exercising and see if I lose any more. My HRT (or TRT) is every other day 5 grams Androgel. I have used Testim. Both are good. The Androgel seems to dry faster for some reason.

I am 60 and have been on low Hrt for a couple years. I find I have lost some strength and have to push myself to go to the gym. I have not had any weight gain but have noticed my body hair is much softer and finer than before.

I am on 2.5 grams of androgel a day now. For a year I used 1.25 grams. That was a little low for me.

I'm 67, and have been castrated for 8 months now with no HRT. Changes: Very difficult to have an erection; body hair greatly diminshed; skin seems thinner; some loss of strength, but I was never very muscular anyway; total lack of interest in sex or pornography; dramatic weight gain in recent months.
Other than the weight gain, I am pleased with the results. I have drastically cut back my eating habits and weight seems to be going down.

Thanks to everyone who have replied. Your information has been very useful and I appreciate it. I have passed my final shrink sign-off and identified a willing urologist, so its now just down to sorting out the hormones and setting a date. The endocrinologist doesn't wan
My friend wants to video it ....

says it is a bit dangerous for older men (thrombosis). Also in older men, he says the process of aromatase will mop up any remaining testosterone. [Aromatase: An enzyme involved in the production of estrogen that acts by catalyzing the conversion of testosterone (an androgen) to estradiol (an estrogen). Aromatase is located in estrogen-producing cells in the adrenal glands, ovaries, placenta, testicles, adipose (fat) tissue, and brain.(and liver of older men) ]. He's also talking estrogen supplements to combat osteoporosis. The urologist is a in a medical school, so I may end up being a class exercise. Oh well, ....

I am 64 and seriously looking for castration. I really appreciate the information you have given. I hope to be able to post as a new eunuch soon.
