Unfortunately, this is similar to asking how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop... The world may never know.

The medical community seems to think gender is binary, so until that view changes it will be very difficult to get castrated voluntarily.

There are several of us who are working very hard on this question. Next week is the biennial meeting of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, which will be held in Oslo. One of the items on the agenda is appropriate care for those who are outside the normative gender binary. There will be several presentations on genders beyond the standard "male" and "female." There will be two presentations on the program about Male-to-Eunuch gender identity and the need for doctors to take people seriously when they seek voluntary castration.

I'll report back when I get back to the U.S. (and to a computer with a full-size keyboard). Expect a long post in the first week of July. I hope to have something positive to report then.

dig out the yellow pages in your town and call all the urologist in the book

and ask if they have a doctor that will do a elective bilateral orchiectomy

I have also found when talking to urologist...many are more willing to remove one testicle ..get a lot less turn downs for one than for both

what region are you in..if you are in my area ..i know most of the urologist and can give you a few names ..that might be willing

after you get all the turn downs ..move on to the next closest town

Dr. Alter is an excellent surgeon. He did my orchi and sack removal Jan. 2006. He required a letter from a therapist before he would see me and then he wanted me to see a therapist that he works with, before he would operate. I enlightened him about the eunuch community and asked him if he would be willing to help others and he said he would. He just wants to make sure the person isn't crazy and knows what they are getting into. Since you live in S. Calif. as I do, it shouldn't be too tough to jump through his required hoops. You should send him an e-mail, tell him your situation and see what his requirements are now. If you want to read what I went through, here's the link to my thread on the subject: http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=7385

Here's Dr. Alter's info:

Beverly Hills, CA 90210

[email protected]

He works with the LA gender Center. I was helped by Elise Turen. http://www.lagendercenter.com/

He also works with Genwell at: http://www.genwell.org/

Going this route isn't cheap, but you have the assurance that you did it right.

Gary Alter is a good guy and answers e-mails usually in 4-6 days.

Good luck

hi all,

quick intro. this is my first post...

anyway, this is a topic that i too am having difficulty with. i have been searching for some medical professional of any kind for years to do an orchiectomy. every urologist, GP, specialist.... you name it, in my area has told me the same thing consistently. that is, "oh, we dont do that". no one is even willing to talk to me about it. they simply say no and refuse to speak to me on the subject beyond that.

the most helpful suggestion i have gotten was from a semi local urologist to start planning a visit thiland.

why is it that i cant even find anyone willing to talk to me about it? i'd love to have a discussion with a doctor, at the very least explaining why they refuse to do it. better yet, let me explain why i want it and then consider my request before giving an answer.

i understand the need to make sure i am sane and that i understand all the consequences of being castrated. i agree that seeing a therapist first is a good idea. but i have yet to find anyone that will even discuss any options with me.

what are we to do?

Information on finding a doctor to do a castration is useful but I want to see the specific instructions for tying off the blood vessels so that I don't bleed to death when I do it my self. Is there any good instructions showing where to tie the silk thread and where to cut? I understand they use silk thread or would dental floss work? I only want to do the left side for now because it is already destroyed from years of abuse. The right side I will leave alone. Any suggestions?
