I recently ordered a 150 mg syringe of depo provera from an over seas pharmacy. I have read a few posts from people who claim to have used it to achieve chemical castration. I have no idea what my starting dosage should be, as well as my maintanence dosage. Can someone give me some accurate advice please? I would also like to know what to expect in the first few weeks.

Starting dosage depends on you. Try 150mg. You will peak anywhere between 4 to 20 weeks after injection. After that you will have to determine for yourself whether you need to take it every 3 months or more frequently.

Side effects will vary, depending on the individual. You should check the Pharmacia website. You will, of course, gradually lose your sex drive, though to what degree depends on you.

Remember, this drug must be administered by deep IM injection, preferably in the gluteous maximus. Consult a nursing book for proper technique. Have fun!

Did you mean 4-20 weeks or 4-20 days? I don't think that stuff is that strong. How long did your first dose last, and did you feel that eunuch calm that everybody is talking about? It seems like I can't remember what it feels like to be free of my sex drive, like I was when I was a young child. This should be a very interesting experience. Thanks for the help so far.

I meant days. BTW, are you trying to shrink your testis or just suppress your libido? If you are trying to shrink your testis you should start with 300mg and continue with 150mg/month for a year, so I am told. Unfortunately, there is no information on chemical castration using DP as this is not a FDA-approved use.

And yes, I am experiencing the "eunuch calm."

Hey mad scientist, I finally had my first injection of depo provera today! It didn't go as smooth as I had invisioned, unfortunately I was so excited that I forgot to release the air from the syringe before injection so my shoulder is more tender than normal. The needle pain was minimal since I'm used to shots anyway. Shortly after my injection I experienced a little woozyness which passed after a short time. It's now been about 7 hours since the shot and for some reason my mind seams much clearer than normal, but me sex drive is as strong as ever, maybe it's the placebo effect? It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks I hope it will be as pleasant as it has been so far. I don't plan on staying on this stuff very long since my wife and I are planning a family. I just want to see if castration is right for me, and if it is I plan on having surgery later in life without hormone replacement. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted....

Perhaps you should discuss this with your wife. She might, after all, be happy if you bank sperm now, and stay in a reduced testosterone state. Just a suggestion. By the way, have you told your physician about what you have done? You really should, just to be on the safe side and be monitored.

However, I agree in that way, you should not do these experiments completely on your own. What will you tell your wive when you just can't anymore what a wive attends her husband to do.

It would not be unwise having your physician informed. After all you are completely turning upside down your hormonal system.

Dude, you're not supposed to take it in the arm, you're supposed to take it in the butt, specificly in the Gluteus Maximus muscle, the largest muscle in the body. That is the reason they give you that long needle. The reason your arm is so sore is that DP is a suppension as opposed to a solution. That stuff will be slowly entering your system for 3 months so you will probably feel a lump there for a while, something you wouldn't feel if you had done it right. As far as the air bubble is concerned you are lucky you didn't hit a blood vessel, otherwise you might have died of an embolism. Take more care if you do it again.

Unfortunately, they no longer include a product sheet with each dose or you would know that it can take up to 20 days before you start to feel anything.
