- Paedophiles are very adept at locating troubled or withdrawn children and lavish gifts upon the target and take him for activities in which they are left alone with no parental supervision.

- If the target is a troubled child, the paedophile will comfort and sympathize with him or her and often, over a period of time, the child will develop feelings for the offender even though he is being actively abused, a phenomenon called “Stockholm syndrome”.

Treatment

Behavioral treatment of pedophilia does not affect recidivism, nor apparently does incarceration. The condition remains chronic, and for this reason, societal interest in incarceration prevails over what is generally seen as equivocal behavior treatment.

Although most practitioners believe that the etiology of pedophilia is psychologically oriented, a report published in the Journal of Neuro Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience suggested that bilateral anterior temporal disease, affecting more right than left temporal lobe, could increase sexual interest. The authors' study was limited to two adult professional patients with late-life homosexual pedophilia. Therefore, further observation and research is necessary to assess diagnostic and treatment implications for all neurologically based paraphilias.

In late 1999, Israeli researchers published a report on the discovery of the drug triptorelin as an effective treatment for males sex offenders in general. The drug regulates the production of testosterone. Of interest is that it can be injected once a month, compared to other similar anti-androgen drugs, which must be administered more often and have more serious side effects.

All the psychological studies and history studies agree. There is no cure for a sexual predator.

There are lines that once crossed will forever place the transgressor outside of society. To me a sexual predator, especially a child sexual predator, desreves nothing but a .38 in the back of the head.

Can you post a link to the story that was published about you? You may also want to start taking something like Prozac (fluoxetine HCl) as it sounds like you may have some obsessive compulsive component mixed in with your other problems.

I hope that you can keep yourself from offending again but you can't ever put yourself in a position where it could happen. With the proliference of the child sex trade in SE Asia, I am concerned about your choice to remain in such an enviroment. I also find it a bit strange that you use the picture of a young and innocent looking boy (even if it's a self pic) given your history and problems.

Pedophilia

It appears that both Kizahakan and Taylor have bought into the Great Moral Panic that currently surrounds pedophilia. Certainly it, and anything else that seriously harms children, is one of the worst crimes imaginable. However, it needs to be put into perspective and examined much more rationally.

First of all, there are crimes that are clearly worse than pederasty, such as genocide/ethnic cleansing of entire populations. I would certainly put the Nazi attempt to exterminate all Jews, the Turkish massacre of Armenians in 1915-1917, and the Serbian ethnic cleansing of Bosnian Moslems as much worse crimes than pederasty.

Second, contrary to what believers in the moral panic state, the recidivism rate for pedophiles is actually lower than that for those who have committed many other sorts of crimes. One child harmed is far too many, but convicted murderers who are released from prison are more likely to murder again than a convicted pedophile is likely to again harm a child.

Third, there is a great deal of research that indicates that significantly lowering the libido of pedophiles reduces the recidivism rate to near zero. (Some studies have it AT zero.) Voluntary castration of pedophiles is not a 100% solution, but demonizing them and driving them into the closet so that they are afraid to seek help is much less a solution to the problem. We should encourage those who are afraid that they might harm children to come forth and seek help. Castration, whether chemical or surgical, seems to be a valid way to protect children. The group counseling now being tried in parts of Canada seems to be effective. I would argue that either is far better than what we currently do.

I disagree with you most strongly on this post of yours Kizahakan.

This appears to me at least to be nothing more than something designed to inflame hatred that is already heated enough. No reasonable person would suggest that harming a child is ever the right thing to do, but you are posting something that very dangerously profiles and stereotypes many NON-criminal adult males... There are in fact MANY adult males who are athletics coaches who are NOT pedafiles, there are in fact many adult males who are toy collectors who are NOT pedafiles.

As for appropriate treatment and probability of recidivism... There is in my opinion, a HUGE LIE that is told to the "moron majority" of hate filled people out there, people who are looking for any reason they can to justify their hate filled rage, any excuse to ostricize and persecute someone. In the "dark ages" they made rediculous accusations of "witchcraft" and such, now they scream "child molestor!" and point their fingers and anyone they don't like.

I agree with Jesus on this one, ANYTHING IS BETTER than the current "treatment" of sex offenders in the U.S. today. The panic and hysteria is only making the whole situation worse and I for one do NOT appreciate reading this sort of fear mongering you have posted here.

If we treated sex offenders vs. locking them up forever, there may be less of an inclination to murder and cover their tracks. I think castration for many first time sex offenders would be a great idea. If you can't be responsible with a libido, then you don't deserve one. Are there longterm health consequences to castration? Yes, but there are also long term health, financial and societal consequences to locking someone up in a cage for 20+ years and still not fixing the problem.

I just want to "fix" the problem in the most efficient and humane way possible for all involved. There should also be a no questions asked program that would castrate anyone who feels they could be a danger. Sure, some fetishists will regret it and a LOT of TG folk will benefit, but I think the benefit would far exceed cost and consequences.

If you see a baby or 6 year old and you want to kiss their private parts or stick you penis in them, PLEASE, castrate yourself in the parking lot of the emergency room and deal with THOSE consequences and DON'T follow you sick desires. They ARE sick, no matter how you justify it.

honestly don't have any ideas about what is a moral or immoral way to treat sex offenders, but I do have an interesting observation: many men would consider castration to be a far worse consequence than being locked up. Worse, many surely consider it worse than a death penalty, so if you are looking to prevent sex offenders from doing horrible things to cover their tracks, then you should reconsider your advice.

Not taking care of children, having them hanging on the street, with the key around their neck, seeing hungry children and not charing what you have with them as they are far from your bed. Having children growing up without love, telling them nothing about your feelings, keep them away from real life so if they become old enough, they don't understand about themselves and make a lot of mistakes. Is that maybe why you feel so guilty and if not you should really be ashamed about yourself

thanks for pointing out my stay in SE Asia once more. It is a hard point to me

I see offenders, yes. I keep questioning myself, be sure of that. But on the other hand, a lot of people should first live there a couple of years before they start to talk about me. I see a society where children grow up with sex.

And I see far less of the problems we are dealing with this moment. I like what I see over there, I like the respect that they pay, leaving people who are different in peace. Every time I need to go back to "the West" I can see with me own eyes who the hell is sick on this earth.
