"Gooseneck" vs Standard reduction

Post by chilliwilli (imported) »

Reading up on scrotal reduction it seems that a "gooseneck" reduction would be most appealing. Has anyone had, or seen this type of scrotal reduction typically done by a plastic surgeon?

I thought mine looked more like a turkey neck! Gooseneck might be an improvement!

Chilli,

Could you provide us with some info about these two reductions? I have not heard of them.

Hash,

The two types of scrotal reduction are somewhere on a BME page. Anyway, if a flap of the softer scrotal skin is removed from the base of the penis and the scrotum pulled forward, the only scar tissue or imperfection is at the base of the penis and the remaining scrotum than conforms to the perineum. With the scrotal skin laying down nicely, this first type of procedure is called a "gooseneck" reduction. In contrast, if the bottom of the scrotum is excised than the thick muscular scrotal skin must be sutured back together. In this second type of reduction what is left is not as clean as the "gooseneck".

In reading up on BME it appears that a plastic or cosmetic surgeon may offer the "gooseneck", where as a cutter or general surgeon would likely only whack the bottom off and suture what is left.

putting my neck out,
