Um, hi. I don't really know if this is the right place for this, but...
I just want to know what it's going to be like, to be a eunuch. I'm going to be willingly castrated.
I am 19 years old. I'm prone to rather painful cysts on both of my testes, and I have had them removed once (edit: the cysts, not my testicles, hurr.) The problem first arose when I was 18.
I just went in to have myself checked out two days ago, the doctor suggested orchotomy, or something like that. Castration. An altogether cheaper and less painful solution to my problem.
I am pretty much decided that I am going to agree, and go along with this surgery. I'm really scared, but I know that is something I have to do, considering my poor financial situation.
What should I expect to happen to me, as a eunuch? Do I need to find a special doctor to do this? What does the surgery entail, and is it going to be painful?
Looking for information...

Hi.
First let me tell you that I think that it is a shame that your financial situation is forcing you into any decision. Where did you come from you say, is that somewhere in the lost world. Please forgive me for this bad joke, I had to, as I think it is pretty unfair, and I think your country has no rights to be proude about that.
Sometimes my young friend, live is just not fair. I am 50 years, and fighting to get rid of them. You are at the beginning of a life, and you'll have to loose them. If we could just change, both our problems would be solved.
You are scared and that is no shame at all. I guess you have a good reason, because if you need or want any testosteron replacement you will again face the problem of the costs.
What can I say? It was me one time who said: "If you don't know what to
say,.....say it"
Please explore this board, you will find a lot of information and I hope you will find some good friend who are willing to help you, even if there is very little they can do
All the best to you
J***

It has been a bit more than a month since I had my orchiectomy. It really is a simple procedure if done thru the scrotum, a bit more involved if done inguinally. My doctor is a urologist. I'd be more comfortable with a urologist doing it than just a general surgeon. The operation is probably not much more involved and is less invasive than removing your cycts. I had a previous biopsy where the testicle was removed from the scrotum and a 1cc piece remove from it. Then it was all sewn up and tucked back inside. I'm assuming the procedure to remove your cycts was similar. My doctor told me tha castration is quicker and simplier. I was awake during my castration and things did seem to go quickly- about 50 minutes as the clock was one thing I could see. I had several ultrasounds leading up to my castration and had a small cyst on one testicle. They said cysts were fairly common but not an issue if small- yours must have been large. I am on Testim for testosterone replacement. It seems to work well although I only take about half of what the doctor ordered.
Cost. I've gotten only one bill so far from my procedure so am not sure how inclusive it is-also it is a new insurance company since Jan so it may bill different than what I am used to. Anyway, the bill was for just over $25K, but the insurance paid $5K with none due from me. Pretty good discount they got. I'm not sure which amount would have been due without incurance for a private patient.
I'm well past worring about having more kids- the one we have is enough. But you should consider what you want to do about that. It is certainly possible to collect, freeze and store sperm while you still make them. Even if you never use them, don't let that opportunity get away from you.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to PM me.

I agree about the scary part. I was scared, but wanted the surgery so bad that I went through with it. I'm quite satisfied with the result, although I'm NOT a transgender person. Only bad effect has been the hot flashes, but then I'm not taking any HRT.
