What is heaven?

Post by Taylor (imported) »

I was going through a bit of difficulty when it occurred to me what heaven would be, it would be living without worry or fear.

I'm curious to know the what other boardmembers think heaven would be like?

:)

I think the only "heaven" we can count on is the one we make for ourselves here and now. It means choosing happiness in this life rather than waiting for it in the next one. It means choosing what is best for you over the demands of others. It means letting go of fear, hate, anger--all of the negative emotions that poison us from the inside and keep us from reaching our human potential. It means taking charge of your own life and accepting responsibility for your own destiny. It means accepting that life will never be perfect and being thankful for your blessings through the bad times as well as the good. This life is the only one we can be certain of having; anything beyond it is unknowable and can only be guessed at. It took me 38 years to realize no one was going to live my life for me or deliver happiness to my door. I had to go out and claim it for myself or face a lifetime of regrets and what-if's. "Heaven," to me, is just a code-word for happiness, and happiness is something we make for ourselves.

Heaven is actually quite hot. It is hotter than we could possibly imagine. And so then hell is the absence of heaven. You have heard of the expression "colder than hell" haven't you? The other expression "hotter than hell" is simply a fabrication of the devil who would like you to believe that he is really HOT! But in fact he is not. Therefore "absolute hell" of which everybody always seems to be talking about everywhere is the total absence of "heaven". So in fact there IS an absolute hell. But there is no absolute heaven because nobody ever TALKS about that. So then heaven is a place where all of the basic material elements get amalogated and become as one or something like that. Hmmm... Wonder if I'm mixing this up with physics class?

I am a little scared to try and tell you.

It would be a complete story. But it is a good feeling that somebody is asking for it We'll see

Heaven would be Sister Kristoff greeting us at the gate. St.Peter is in the hospital recovering from the Red Nun's ballbusting.

On what do we base our definition of heaven? There are a lot of ideas about it, but the word "heaven" is a biblical word. So the Bible is the source to go to for the true definition, though I know I'll be ridiculed for suggesting it. But truth it truth.

Heaven is the place where the resurrected dead who believe in Christ go after death. Heaven is a place of no more death, or mourning, or crying or pain. It's a place that has streets of pure gold, so pure it's like transparent glass and it's illuminated by the glory of God. But heaven is only for believers, non-believers will never be able to go there. So if you want to go to heaven after death, according to the Bible you must believe and specifically in Jesus Christ.

I could go on and on and expand on this, but this is about the best that one can do with so few words. Kudos to you, Hash!

Perhaps the Moslems have got it right. After all many of them seem keen to get there.

Heaven would be: An endless supply of pretty girls, men become as orgasmic as women and you can always rise to the occasion. Broad open roads with no speed limits and an Aston Martin to get around in.

Kortpeel,

From a humanistic point of view it all sounds great, but it pales in comparison to what the true heaven will be and is. You have to think outside the finite and consider the infinite. Our puny minds cannot comprehend or fathom what heaven will be like. It's similar to our understanding of what the earth is now compared to what it was before Adam & Even fell and even before the flood.

Of course, that requires a belief in creation, which for some reason is considered unreasonable.
