Noy bored at all. Most men will face ED and other male sex organ problems if they live long enough. It happens to the most virile men with enough years of living. Lots of men not commenting on your posts face similar virility and ED problems. Most readers never leave comments. Just a few of us who hate to see worthwhile posts or questions going unanswered and speak up.

One of my buddies had a big varicocele that was wrecking his sperm and preventing him from impregnating his wife. He was getting kidded by his hyper masculine co workers with offers to do his husbandly duties for him and impregnate his wife for him. After lots of infertility testing on both him and his wife, drs said they could not find any reason a healthy young couple was unable to get pregnant after lots of trying. My buddy read all about male and female infertility and diagnosed his own varicocele and showed it to his dr. The dr agreed and did surgery to cut out his big bag of worms like scrotal swollen veins that were affecting his balls and sperm. He said it was not bad and healed up quickly. Since then, he can impregnate his wife as much as they want ! His fertility is great now.

Appreciate the example of what worked. Thank you.

I know for a fact I could have had children had we been in a position, financially speaking, but we married relatively old. We didn’t have two nickels to rub together after the bills were paid. I was 29. I had plenty of get up and go. We even had to use contraception. But for reasons not entirely clear my libido went into the toilet; possibly inhaled a large amount of termite poison. (It is now banned) It wasn’t not long thereafter that problems arose. About 1983 I was placed in testosterone. Undoubtedly that just compounded the semen quality.

Anyway what is done is done. No do-overs.

Anyway I decided to take the bull by the horns and I’m going to get it fixed one way or another. Obviously not interested in children at my age.

I believe that it is likely that castration and testosterone replacement would be the best option, as the other option might and probably won’t solve it and I would still have to default to castration.

This is my first attempt at a comment/question, so please be patient with me.

I am 72 in very good health except my libido about 7 or 8 years ago was non-existent My doctor put me on testosterone gel and WOW what a difference. Not only is my libido back but overall wellbeing is MUCH better. I have been on testosterone ever since. My testicles have atrophied and spend most of the time in my abdomen now. I love the look when the sack is empty and I wonder if it wouldn't be better to have the worthless things removed altogether? Although I love the look of an empty sack, I do not like the bulge in my groin when they have moved up into my abdomen. I have tried coming off testosterone but as soon as I do the testosterone level drops to less than 50. I assume this means I either take testosterone or suffer the consequences.

I wonder if I had them removed and continued on testosterone if I would notice any difference in libido? I know I would love an empty sack and most likely would have it reduced at a later date. Just to add a little more info on me, my wife and I are not able to have penetrative sex because she has vaginal Lichens Sclerosus which makes it very painful for her. So I am left with masturbation as my only relieve. Castration has always been a fantasy of mine and I am wondering if at this age and with the current circumstances if it wouldn't be a viable alternative and at the same time give me more brain fuel for masturbation?

My off the head layman’s response is if your level drops to 50 off the gel, your testicles would seem to be contributing little if anything. I’ve tried about everything and my level went over 1200 on HRT with no obvious increase in Libido. Very strange. I have started working on improving the shots into muscle as to have the most effective response. I can’t really tell to be perfectly honest. I have had the total and free testosterone checked. The answer is not there. I’m really baffled.

I didn’t care for the gel or the patches and just do the shots. Inject and forget.

As to removing what is left of your testicles I doubt it would matter much. I’ve thought about doing that myself, replacing with prostheses and just relying on HRT. I remember when everything worked but maybe at my age of 77 it is too much to expect. I exercise, eat right, minimal alcohol, haven’t been sick in over a decade. In your case, I think you should do what you think appropriate. Let us know how that works out.

My endocrinologist keeps telling me emphatically that testosterone has nothing to do with gaining an erection. Maybe not in large measure, but it certainly does have an effect in my experience. No T and 2 mg estrogen daily, and there are no erections to be had - not that I miss them that much.

So it is all in our heads? In my case I am reasonably certain it was the TURP procedure. I don’t really recall that it was that much of a problem although my libido had diminished. As far as I can determine it would require a cock ring or as discussed shots to the base of the penis or the inflatable device that I have ruled out.

I remember many, many years ago when the problem was getting an erection, especially when standing before a classroom.

Thanks!!!

This excerpt explains the downsides. I can speak to this with personal knowledge.

I was out of the hospital the next day. But the worst was yet to come.

When it was necessary to pee, it was necessary to get to the toilet immediately if not sooner.

I had to rely on adult diapers for about three weeks. And there was continued blood in the urine. Eventually it passed a large clot and cleared up.

But I would never have done it knowing what I know now. The retrograde ejaculation is Not the same nor as pleasurable. And the inability to maintain an erection is extremely bothersome.

But on reflection there may have been no alternative although I can’t know for certain. And the urine flow is nowhere near what it was when younger. But at least I didn’t have prostate cancer. I guess I should be thankful for that.

My advice for any male needing this should go into this with a full understanding of the downsides.

“In most cases, TURP is a safe procedure and the risk of serious complications is very small.

However, many men who have a TURP lose the ability to ejaculate semen during sex or masturbation, although they still have the physical pleasure associated with ejaculation (orgasm). This is known as retrograde ejaculation.

Many men also temporarily lose the ability to control their bladder (urinary incontinence), although this usually passes in a few weeks. In rare cases, it may be persistent and need further treatment.

There's also a small risk of problems such as erectile dysfunction, difficulties passing urine and urinary tract infections (UTIs).”

I was castrated about thirty years ago.

I had asked my doctor not to leave anything inside my scrotum so it would shrink and atrophy.

My doctor gave me a bilateral nerve block during surgery.

The only pain that I had was from my sutures.

My testicles were swollen but the incisions were closed.

After about six to eight weeks my scrotum was flat.

Since then my scrotum has shrunk so much that you don’t notice it.
