Based on my own related experiences, if everything is ok, then sutures can be removed on 7th-10th day. swelling starts to go down after 3-5 days. and after 2 weeks it should look pretty healed without coloring and swelling. wound would be slightly painful for touch for months.
Only thing I can't imagine how cords will heal. After initial swelling they probably start to disappear. Is it possible to touch them or feel them even after everything is healed?
Erik in my case I was dealing with chronic pains (Called Orchialgia in Urology speak) and had my orchiectomy done inguinaly. This is where the scrotum is left alone and instead incisions are made up high (In the pubic hair area) and the cords are fished out and the testes are pulled up into the canals and (most or) the cords are removed. I personally do no believe in Scrotal Orchiectomy. Leaving the cords to dangle around is a good bet you will have future pain issues. They contain all the nerve bundles and they all to often "reattach" to some part of the body. Also I think infection is more "likely" when you do a scrotal. All these comments about needing drains etc all seem to me to be band aids for choosing to do this in this way. If you research Orchialgia you will see that the success rate for Inguinal (aka Radical) orchiectomy is very good. Scrotals have a far lower success rate.
Please be really REALLY sure about what your looking into doing this for however. I can't say whats best for others but I think it would be very smart to talk to a lot of experts (not just Internet types) about this. Check in with a Therapist, your GP, get refered to a Urologist (Or a Pain Doctor if your problem is Orchialgia)
