Pain.

Pain.

Over the last few weeks i have developed deep pain in my hips and groin area. The pain is intensified while i am walking. This has really been eating away at me in the sense that i try to walk as much as possible to maintain a healthy productive life. I am unsure of the cause of pain & do not know what exactly to do about it. The irritation has began to consume my thoughts. I feel like less of a person, in a way i have become sad that my body is not up to par.

So normally when i have any issue of the sort i would immediately seek medical advice. However at this time i do not have insurance.

Should i go to the ER, or should i find a walk in clinic?

I need advice.....

I had pain in my groin -- intense, like being kicked in the balls constantly -- after I became frequently sexually active after my castration. I suspect mine was from the cord(s) that were attached to my scrotum coming loose. After a couple weeks it went completely away and has not returned (this was originally Nov 2007 that the pain began).

i had a pain like someone was squeezing my right nut and it turned out to be a blood flow problem caused by a hernia and my appendix dropping down into the hernia cutting off the blood supply to the nut. since my appendix was removed 2 months ago the pain has gotten alot less. it should go away as i heal the doctor told me . if it has not gone away in the next 2 months i will loose my right nut

I am wondering if the pain in your hips might be diet related. Are you eating well balanced meals and taking calcium with Vitamin D? Since this is new and not the result of an accident I would try nutritional supplements. If that does not help it will be time to visit the doctor.

I was also wondering if you have any family history of arthritis. While rare in someone of your age it does happen.

Another thought is since you are doing a lot of walking how are the quality of your shoes? If you are walking on hard surfaces and the impact of your steps are not well cushioned this may be causing the pain. You might want to try some insoles in you shoes to cushion your feet. When I worked in patient care and I was up and down steps and hallways that were tile over cement I would have pain until I bought good shoes.

If you need to go to the doctor or ER and do not have insurance you can request indigent care. Sounds bad I know but it will greatly reduce or eliminate your bill. You do have to make below a certain amount of money a year.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I just went to the doctor with similar pain last Tuesday. Turns out I have arthritis in my right hip joint, at my age, not so surprising. It can happen to someone your age. You need to be checked out.

If you are not taking any calcium supplements, it could be osteoporosis. I realize that your young, but without testosterone your bones weaken.

Your back also could be out of alignment pitching nerves. If the normal doctors can't help check out a Chiropractic Doctor - they have fixed my painful back many times and if I do my exercises I don't have to go back.

Sucks with no insurance. Been there. I suggest you hop on down to an established walk-in clinic pronto. ($75 - $125) cash. Get X-ray ($50 - $75) and allow doctor to examine you for serious things like appendicitis. Check for hernias, sprains, arthritis, possible adhesions since your surgery, Lyme disease, etc. The doctor knows what to look for and, because he's literally seen thousands of patients come through that door, how to find it. A walk-in clinic is also good because it's small enough to get to know most of the staff after a few visits and you can see the doctor without making an appointment. The above quotes are rough approximations, always ask for an estimate of costs to be examined first.

There is no reason to fret and feel you are less of a person because you are having deep pain. All of us feel like you currently do at various times. It's called "being a human being". Please have yourself checked for clinical depression. The best walking talking unisex. you are. is a happy one. If you are sad then I am sad also. The checkup will allay your fears and anxiety by shining the light on things and scare those monsters away!

You are a very young person and it is imperative that you have a doctor establish an osteoporosis prevention regimen ASAP. You will have the bones of a 70 year old woman before you turn 35 otherwise. You need healthy bones to go walking and talking into the future.

Drug companies have programs that provide medicines for the bubble to those unable to afford them. Ask your doctor. If you can find a couple of extra nickels to rub together ($175) it sure would help to visit a urologist for exam and advice.

Again; please see a doctor ASAP, please understand that there is no good reason to feel you are less of a person than any other human, and please stop worrying! You'll be all right!

Good luck!

Thank you.
