Eddie (imported) wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:20 pm Kangan, has your scrotum started to shrink yet? Once the swelling goes down and the drainage stops it will start to flatten out. Then the opening will close on its on. I speeded mine up by use a syringe to flush out the old blood using water. A urologist that I know recommended me do that in a tub of warm water just long enough to flush it out twice a day.
Scrotum was shrunken from the very first. The only swelling was the wound edges and that has subsided. Now I have what looks like a canyon or crevice with a small hole that seeps blood a little. Very slow to heal.... This is 30-days from the castration.

I realize that Kimmel is much better than a totally untrained, unlicensed cutter, but I would like to make sure that everyone who goes to him is fully prepared to go to E.R. afterwards.
Everyone, please take care!
I didn't have to go to an ER, but I did have to make several unnecessary trips to see a doctor or an urologist. Had Dr. Kimmel done a proper stitching job, I wouldn't have needed any of this. As it is, I'll probably need plastic surgery to smooth out the deep crease in my scrotum, or even total removal!:(

Congratulations!!!!!
Still worried about your physical recovery problems. No one should have to be going through what you are.

i have been curious about this and i would like to hear from anyone on this subject: At what point during SRS are you actually considered female?
Is it before a Dr's metal touches skin. When you are "post op"?
Or when you transition in daily life? Or anywhere in between?
Ashley and I are physically the same. But i am definitely not a female. I like being a eunuch but haven't really bought into the third gender thing. I am for all....err most... intents and purposes.... a male.

Randy my motivations for castration dealt with my never being happy being male but not female. I consider myself eunuch and not male. Our motivations were quite different for our desire for castration. You are a male and that is the gender with which you identify.

When I was castrated everything went well but I did have drainage for a while since I was active too soon afterwards. I remeber how happy I was that I fully healed. My scrotum drew in at the incision at first, looked like a labia majora. Since then all has smoothed out and now looks like a shrunken scrotum.

AshleyFox (imported) wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:05 pm Well, update time...
My next urologist appointment is this Tuesday. I have been taking Cipro since the surgery on October 22nd. I am an EMT and I have followed everything all the doctors have said about hygeine and now still...
On top of all my other issues I am dealing with... I now have a bad infectionI am about to give up. I am trying to keep it together. I really hope this meeting with the urologist on Tuesday fixes this.
I think this is because the first urologist put neosporin INTO the wound. So, now I get to pay for his mistake. That on top of Kimmel's mistake(s).
Ash
Ashley I have been following your thread and I am sorry you have had such a rough time. Sounds like the Cipro is not the right antibiotic for what is growing. I was also concerned about the urologist putting neosporin inside your scrotum. Hope all goes well with the next urologist.

That description fits mine right now. I sure will be happy when it finally heals. My urologist says I've got at least 3-weeks to go!:(

Regarding Neosporin: http://www.drugs.com/pro/neosporin.html
Any licensed Dr. that puts neosporin into an open wound should be reported.
This medicine is not designed for such a purpose. This medicine should not be an over the counter item. It should be prescribed as an inexpensive generic, but used only when medically needed and only in a prescribed way. It is a very complex chemical that can have several negative influences. Good that you are changing urologists.
