I download and update AVG daily and never get an indication of a problem. Every week or two I will update Spybot Search and Destroy and check the computer. Today I got Win32.Anilogo.i a TrojansC. Spybot said it fixed the problem, but when I ran it again the same Trojan showed up. In all I ran Spybot four times. Four times it said it fixed the problem. Then it showed up again on the next run.

Any comments anybody?

AVG should catch and move this one to its Vault. You can remove it from there.

Look in your windows/system32 files and sort all the files by date. You can see the recently added files and if you are not sure, google the file name and see what it is before trying to delete it. It can often be difficult because you have to shut that file down first and they often relaunch too fast to shut down.

It also helps to google the virus name and see if there are tips on other boards on how to remove the virus.

Ramses has a point there. You might have to find a hidden file by date or size and then prevent it from booting up so you can delete it. I had that problem twice at work with some rather malicious internet code. It loaded itself on booting, so we had to boot one file at a time. And it had three copies hidden around. Usually, the antivirus software can find all those for you and neutralize them. The trick here is to boot from a CD with the absolute minimum of DLL running.

I don't know if this would help with your problem, but I use BO Clean (anti-malware) from Comodo as well as AVG and Spybot Search & Destroy. A computer tech strongly recommended the combination to me. BO Clean works unobtrusively, and it's designed to stop malware of all kinds. A great free download.

Well, AVG now recognizes it but cannot fix it. I get a threat warning and a note that healing unsuccessful.

Whenever that happens to me (rarely), I'm often able to use an online scanner to take care of the problem. The one I used to recommend to my customers, and which I still use when the need arises, is offered by BitDefender.

After that page loads, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the button that reads, "Scan Online." It will take awhile for the BHO to load, and for the database to update itself, but in my experience, the wait is worth the results.
