This is a 15 year old thread. It probably ought to just die a peaceful death as most who posted on it are no longer even members here. They've moved on and cannot reply. It's time to start a new thread on any of the ideas here that you want to explore.
I do want to comment on the Gulf area, though. While there are a great many rumors about continuing castrations in the Middle East, they seem to be only rumors. I have been able to track none of them back to anything more than hearsay. The most recent that appear to be real are from the early 1960s, when slavery was still legal there.
There are a few documented cases from Sudan that are more recent. One of the aid workers in Sudan documented the castration of two boys, ages about 10 and 12, who had been castrated for sale in 1991. It wasn't clear who the prospective buyers were. Others have documented castration of slaves in Sudan as punishment for attempting to run away, or for other "crimes." Slave raiding was part of the Sudan Civil War, though it seems to have ceased by now.
The rumors may be interesting to read and/or speculate about, but so far they just seem to be rumors.
