lidocaine
whats the difference between 1% and 2 % lidocaine? Is 1% stronger or weaker than 2%? Doctor used 1% on my lip to do stiches for a major cut.

Re: lidocaine
2% is stronger. It is 2 parts lidocaine per hundred parts of solution. 1% is only 1 part lidocaine per hundred parts of solution. --FLO--

Re: lidocaine
Indeed.
1% equals 10 mg/ml, and 2 equals 20 mg/ml.
Although concentration are half or double, there is not very much difference is quality of local anesthesia. They both numb very well.
If my memories are well, 2% works more quicker due to a greater concentration gradient towards the tissue, that's all. It does not numb better, nor does it work longer.
Therefore I reckon it is safer to play with 1%, which reduces doses significantly.
Take care !

Re: lidocaine
Being 200 # health male how much would do the trick? I have insulin needles and they hold only 1/2 cc per injection. I tried 1/2 cc per shot times 4 all around my sack seems to numb outer skin very well. how about the cords ? does it numb them to? or do you have to inject in to cord but not deep enough to hit vein just again cord?

This kind of how-to instruction is not permitted on these boards. Please keep that stuff private or in email. Thank you.

Re: lidocaine
Dear bitemynuts,
I'm very sorry to tell, but I will not give you any how-to-do on this matter.
First of all, when considering this, you should know something about the anatomy of the spermatic cord.
The spermatic cord is full of blood vessels, arteries and a lot of veins. These veins are called 'plexus pampiniformis' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pampiniform_plexus). When injecting intra-arterially, one can induce vasospasm in the testicle, which you don't want to occur. It is very easy to inject the plexus. Then one can cause himself a intravenous injection/intoxication with local anaesthetics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_anesthetic_toxicity) which can potentially be fatal. These drugs should never be used without possibility to reanimate.
If you achieved a proper numbness, then the real danger can start. As you know pain is a signal of our body that something can be wrong. I'm pretty sure one will abuse his balls, when he doesn't feel any pain to such an extend real testicular damage can occur.
So indeed, I agree with Kristoff: "
Lidocaïne spray is far more safe, but then also remember there can be a toxic dose. Max dose of lidocaïne is 3 mg/kg. Each spray delivers 10 mg. So it is unwise to have more than 20 sprays.
I realize I may disappoint you, but please inform very, very well before doing things you can regret.
Take Care !!
