I got a chance to meet Blaise in Baton Rouge and we had a really nice sit down lunch at a local restraunt. He is the first person that I have ever met from here and I will say that he is a genuinely nice and pleasant guy and a great conversationalist. I look forward to meeting with him again and would encourage anyone else here to meet him if you ever get a chance. I bet no one here would have ever thought that Blaise and Ramses would have a pleasant lunch together!

Actually, if my end of the economy doesn't crater yet, I'd like to bring the family there for Mardi Gras. I worked with a guy that had worked there. He wasn't much on the Big Easy Mardi Gras. Much preferred Lafayette. Looking ahead a couple of months, can you give us some ideas? Thanks.

Ramses has seen my hovel but I have asked him not to tell anyone!

But, yes, I can offer suggestions. I like the Cajun Mardi Gras but I don't pit one celebration against another. I lived in New Orleans twelve years and got in the habit of going camping during the celebration, but my former wife taught in the Vieux Carre and her school had its own Mardi Gras parade every year on the Friday before Fat Tuesday. And, yes, it was a real parade! I still remember the little girl giving throws to the guy in the leather jock strap on Bourbon Street.

I have not been to Mardi Gras since Katrina and not often since the segregated krewes had to intergrate or stop parading. But then I have visited the city only once in the past three years.
