Before you go and get castrated, it would be in your best intrest to make a few changes.
1.) Take a multi-vitamin- This will make your body more resistant to damage, help prevent you from getting sick, and gives the body what it needs to heal. Also on a side note, multi- vitamins have all the vitamins you need for a day but your body cannot store some so cut it in half take one half in the morning and the other half at night.
2.) Cut down your omega 6 intake, you can do this by avoiding, soy, corn oil, other warm weather vegetable oils or products made with those or grain fed animal meat. High intake of Omega 6 has been linked to inflammation and a higher chance to become dependent on anti-inflammatory medications.
3.) Up your intake of Omega-3 you can do this by eating fish, cooking with olive oil, avocado and macadamia nut oil, or taking fish oil supplements, I suggest you do all three. Omega 3 has been linked to not only helping cholesterol and anti-inflammation properties but also having benefits for the brain and nerves system.
4.) Take fiber pills- By supplementing the fiber your not getting in your diet, you lower you cholesterol and lower your chance of developing colon cancer. Oh if your wondering how the fiber works it binds with the bile and gets rid of it unused bile is converted to cholesterol.
5.) Fast at least once a month. Studies have shown Muslims who fast during Ramadan have higher good cholesterol and lowers inflammation of the blood vessels. Remember stay hydrated while you fast.
6.) Get some Sun- 15 to 20 minutes of direct sun will get you all the vitamin D you need. Vitamin D is needed not only for a strong skeletal system, but is also needed by the immune system to function properly. If your like me and you don't get enough vitamin D from the sun there are supplements.
7.) Eat probiotic foods, people who eat probiotics have stronger immune systems.
8.) Reduce Calorie intake- By reducing your calorie intake you can extend your life, improve your quality of, and live a much happeir life. Some of the possible outcomes is, improved brain power or focus, decreased inflammation, lowers the risk of cancer, boosts happiness, lose weight. Start out slow, substitue junk food with healthy alternatives, then reduce by a small amount like 5% then when you got that down cut it by another 5% so you have reduced your calorie intake by 10% and so on.
By doing these simple things and making your body much healtheir you
1.)Reduce the chances of getting sick after your castration.
2.)Give your body what it needs for a speedy recovery.

I'm not sure all this is even remotely accurate....

Wikipedia's thoughts:
In 2006 the National Institutes of Health convened an expert panel to examine the available evidence on nutrient supplements.[2][3] This review concluded that "Most of the studies we examined do not provide strong evidence for beneficial health-related effects of supplements taken singly, in pairs, or in combinations of three or more." They noted that multivitamins could provide health benefits to some groups of people, such as postmenopausal women, but that there was "disturbing evidence of risk" in other groups, such as smokers. The panel's report concluded that the "present evidence is insufficient to recommend either for or against the use of Multivitamin/Mineral Supplements by the American public to prevent chronic disease."
Similarly, a 2006 report for the United States Department of Health and Human Services concluded that "regular supplementation with a single nutrient or a mixture of nutrients for years has no significant benefits in the primary prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, cataract, age-related macular degeneration or cognitive decline."[14] However, the report noted that multivitamins have beneficial effects in people with poor nutritional status, vitamin D and calcium can help prevent fractures in older people, and that zinc and antioxidants can help prevent age-related macular degeneration in people at a high risk of developing this disease.
In 2007 the United Kingdom Food Standards Agency published an updated set of recommendations for eating a healthy diet.[15] The recommendations stated that pregnant women should take extra folic acid and iron and that older people might need extra vitamin D and iron. However, the report advised that "Vitamin and mineral supplements are not a replacement for good eating habits" and stated that supplements are unnecessary for healthy adults who eat a balanced diet.
My thoughts, unless you have a REALLY poor diet AND your doctor recommends it, multivitamin are likely to do nothing at all or actually harm you.

Might be a good idea, there are health risks to increased Omega-3 fat, as with anything consult your doctor. Plus if you eat a health balanced diet then you won't need dietary supplements.

This is wholly incorrect! Fiber helps you crap better, thats it. "Dietary fibers are the indigestible portion of plant foods that move food through the digestive system, absorbing water and easing defecation."
Bile is not turned into cholesterol, cholesterol is turned into bile! The bile acids cholate and chenodeoxycholate are typically conjugated with taurine or glycine and are produced by the liver from cholesterol. Bile liquid also contains some cholesterol (which indecently is what hardens and creates gallstones).
The cholesterol contained in your bile isn't prevented from being reabsorbed into your body by fiber in any way. Your liver produces cholesterol, which is a NECESSARY lipid your body needs to survive. The liver actually adjusts how much it makes based on how much you intake in your diet.

Although there is some reasarch that indicates fasting can be benifital, theres lots of negitive aspetcs as well.
Glucose is the body's primary fuel source, and is essential for the brain's functioning. When denied glucose for more than 4-8 hours,[citation needed] the body will turn to the liver for glycogen, a storage form of glucose, to be used for fuel. A process called glycogenolysis converts glycogen into a usable form of fuel. At this point, the body will also use small amounts of protein to supplement this fuel. This fuel will last for up to 12 hours before the body needs to turn to muscle stores of glycogen, lasting for a few more days.[citation needed] If glucose is still denied at this point, muscle wasting is prevented by temporarily switching to fat as the fuel source meaning fat is converted into ketone through catabolism. Ketones, while not sugars, are able to be used by the brain as a fuel source as long as glucose is denied.[citation needed]
As a protective biomechanism, many toxins are stored within fat. During catabolism, these toxins are liberated and then released into the blood stream. This increases the likelihood of acetaminophen poisoning, possibly because of depletion of hepatic glutathione reserves.[16]. The body will continue to use fat for as long as there is fat to consume. The body will generally indicate to the faster when fat levels are running extremely low (less than 2%) with an increased urge for food.[citation needed] Fasts are usually broken long before this point. If the fast is not broken, starvation will begin to occur, as the body begins to use protein for fuel. It will begin with the least important proteins, then muscles, and eventually organs. Death may occur before the body turns to organs as a fuel source however.[citation needed]
Fasting is very likely to cause you to loose muscle mass, have much less energy, be cranky and basically make you feel like crap until you increase your carbohydrate intake again to restore blood sugar levels. IMHO theres just not enough positive benefits documented by actual clinical studies to outweigh these side-effects.

Can't argue here, sun is good for ya in low doses, otherwise you run the risk of say skin cancer.

In case others don't know what probiotic is, it is "Live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host."
Theres just not A LOT of research into this, some of it is a bit wacky science IMHO. Most of it just seems like fringe science that is designed to take health nuts money more then anything else.

Although overeating is unquestionably bad for you, under-eating is equally or more likely WORSE for you. Without doing the research people in the world dieing from malnutrition is likely to be much higher then people who overeat.
This all falls back onto eating a healthy balanced diet, not trying to deprive yourself of necessary nutrients or energy. If you take in less calories then your body needs then your going to suffer from starvation effects, which is unquestionably negative and undesirable.
I would consult your doctor before you go yanking back your intake 5% then

To me it sounds more like your trying to convey an agenda here thats vastly beyond helping people recover quicker from a minor outpatient procedure.
Re: Before Castration
Vitamins and their benefits frequently fall in and out of favor, depending on who studied what.
There is, however, nothing minor about castration. Just ask anyone who's had a complication from it, to say nothing of the side effects.

Re: Before Castration
When my testosterone level was extremely low, I am certain that I had major problems. I am not certain that I recall accurately what they were. Castration indeed is not a minor procedure or its effects minor.

Re: Before Castration
I find what you are saying offensive and wrong.
1.)Every doctor I have ever been to has told me, you need a muti-vitamin, so if there are no benefits then why recommend it???? I mean I healthy hell I heat healthier than the doctors and they still recommend that I take one. Also getting your information from Wikipedia is crazy, Wikipedia is known to be inaccurate and biased. So I guess all these good doctors are just plain stupid to recommend something because of few studies new studies might be right
2.)Omega three is something people who eat like American's don't get, on a regular basis and supplements are a safe way of getting it. You ask any respectable doctor if you should take fish oil and they will tell you yes, because Omega 3 has been linked to balancing your cholesterol, helping with brain function, and it helps in many other ways as well but lets keep the list short.
3.)Now Bile if not used, is absorbed by the bowel and converted to cholesterol, however when fiber is there, the bile is not absorbed by the bowel so your cholesterol levels balance out. Now if you were right about your liver having so much control then why would anyone ever need medication to balance their cholesterol levels?? On that note, by supplementing the missing fiber from your diet, you can lower your cholesterol levels enough to get off cholesterol medications or at least reduces the amount needed. I would also like to correct you when you get the recommended dose of fiber a day (that is 25 grams a day for a woman and 35 grams a day for a man) everyday for an extended period you decrease your risk for colon cancer, so yeah does a lot. http://www.oprah.com/slideshow/oprahsho ... 0917_350/4
4.)Your information about is flawed at best, fasting means not to eat it does no mean to starve your body, you can still drink water, and fruit juice you just can't eat. Also many forms fasting don't even last an entire day, so there are hardly ever any negative benefits except an empty stomach unless you have a condition such diabetes and even with condition such as diabetes it is still possible to fast. Now then there are many positive affects of fasting one of the most amazing is increased Ghrelin levels, which helps with learning because it helps with memory as well as focus it has been linked with helping with dealing stress and preventing stress related depression. I know what your thinking that ghrelin is the hunger hormone, however is not just a hunger related hormone. Back you know lets say ten thousand years Ghrelin helped keep people from dying or starving, because of its affects on the brain, people could concentrate and remember better which really upped the chances of finding food. Anyways about your little idea that fasting will release toxins is wrong, because then people would get sick maybe even die when exercise for extended periods, come on on you don't see marathon runners dying or suffering from exposure to toxins and they deal with massive amounts of fat being eat up unlike those who are fasting. So what I am saying is there is a difference between staving to death which is not healthy and fasting which is beneficial.
5.) Come off it, there solid evidence that probiotics are in fact helpful. Hell my family has been using probiotics for the past sixty something years, and my doctor in all of her wisdom told me to eat yogurt to fix my upset stomach. You idea that is is just way to get money is hilarious, I think you have confused probiotics and natural cures with modern subpar medicine.
6.)Now about calorie restriction, it has been made very clear in short term studies that, a calorie restricted diet can help with things such as Blood pressure Blood sugar, Body fat percentage, Cholesterol levels,Heart rate and ,Weight. Calorie restriction diets have been shown to be beneficial from everything from microbes all the way to monkeys it will of course take time to do human testing since we live so long. Calorie restriction has been shown to have the same affect of the Resveratrol protein which is known to make the body healthier and might even extend life. I would like to clear something up, a restricted calorie diet does not mean you have to eat less you can eat the same amount of food even more, and still consume less calories. Also calorie restrictive diets don't mean you won't get your nutrients your body needs, because with any diet the key it to eat healthy.
7.)Now castration is not a minor operation, you are having organs removed, and the effects of sugary can be devastating if not prepared for it. While the operation is simple healing is not, especially if your body is not ready with something of that nature.

for my worthless 2 cents. following those suggestions is healthy for anybody, not just someone thinking of castration.
How can you go wrong eating healthy, eating less, and taking some vitamins.
Through in a little exercise and you are all set.

That is so right, how can you expect to be healthy if your not giving your body the tools it needs to do maintenance.

TMI.
My brain is about to explode.
Think I'll go get a beer and a burger and spend a little right brain time trying to enjoy life while I'm alive.
Live as long as you want to,
Want to as long as you live.
