I was listening to AM Radio on my way home from my sister's house in Santa Rosa. It was call in show and one or two of the callers claimed that hurricane Gustav was God's way of punishing the USA because Barak Obama is the Anti Christ. Well apparently God is not that upset after all, and that is a good thing for all the folks in New Orleans some of whom one would suspect are republican.

Things like this make a bad name for good christians and they should never be seen as the real christian church.Remember people are who they are and sadly when I here things like this I see the same hate and stupid remarks just as the hate speech on the left.I see no diffrence between the both of them and they are not worth listening to.

JesusA (imported) wrote: Tue Sep 02, 2008 6:30 pm I just got off the telephone with Blaise. Telephone and water are the only utilities that are working. He said that the power went off at about noon and Baton Rouge is now absolutely pitch dark. Damage at his apartment complex is minimal – two very large oak trees went over in the wind, but didn't seem to damage much more than a few cars.

He thanked everyone for their prayers to move the storm away from New Orleans, but wondered if we had, instead, re-directed it toward Jimmy Swaggart, who's only about a mile from where Blaise lives.

Blaise,
it will be good to know when you are back online. I also hope utiities are restored soon in New Orleans so you can get back home.

I am amazed to hear you are within a mile of Jimmy Swaggart, if that refers to his church on Bluebonnet. When I lived in Baton Rouge, I lived within a mile of his church not far from the intersection of Bluebonnet and Highland. His house with the huge acreage and privacy fence was further off down Highland Rd, if my memory serves me well.

Hope things are back to normal for you and you are safely back in your own home very soon.

Hugs,

Danya

Blaise,

Hang in there, all will be well. You have lots of prayer for a favorable outcome from people who care and this makes a big difference.

We all hope Blaise is well - he is a survivor. I also hope and wish well for all of our other members in the destructive path of this storm. We have quite a few members from the region. "Good Speed" to paraphrase.

I was always fascinated by the roar of hurricanes, too, Blaise. I am glad you are in Baton Rouge riding out the storm and away from the coast. Hope you can get back home soon.

Jesus, thank you for your wonderful telephone call Monday night. You have not idea how much I appreciated it.

I lost electric power at noon Monday and regained it about five Saturday afternoon. A tree fell in front of my apartment but away from the building.

Most of the damage in Baton Rouge is wind damage. Some parts of the power grid are severely damaged. Some communities near the Gulf got flooding, wind damage, and major destruction of the grid.

Some people will be without electricity for, perhaps, three to four weeks. However, I am fortunate. I adapt fairly quickly to changes in weather. The sultriness bothered me as it did other people but the bother became less severe to me. I think that the temperature and humidity actually impresses during the week.

I am back online. Even thought the head of our power company says Gustav was the worst storm to hit our power grid in the 95 years history of that company. My power returned after only five days plus five hours. That beats the return time for both Katrina in 2005 and Andrew in 1992. Some people who recall Audrey in 1957 think that Gustav is worse. In terms of wind damage this storm surpassed Katrina.

I was exhausted from lack of sleep, but a night of cool air and my respirator has helped.
