Yes, I think that imposing rules hinders the natural process of learning and creation. We know that scientists don’t work the way our teachers told us they work.balletkyle (imported) wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2008 10:28 am it's simple to say YES and leave it at that.
however it greatly depends on the art form and the individual, their moods, emotional and physical state when making or preforming their art forms. some art comes from thinking outside the box/outside the norms.some art comes from channelling devine sources, and some come from hard work and concentration.
In my choosen art form the harder I work at it,the more I think about it the worse I am at it.for me it's best to void my mind and let the art take over my body, at times it feels like my body knows what to do so I just let it do it cause if I try to think it through I mess up. that is where the weeks/months of trainning comes in.
When I was a teenager, I enjoy solving proofs in geometry. I often dreamed solutions to proofs of theorems. I would move geometric figures in my mind. Well, the figures moved themselves in the dreams into different formations. When I was a young adult, I enjoyed solving proofs of theorems in symbolic logic. I dreamed solution to those cases though in a different way, but the solutions seemed come in dreams.
I think that a lot of learning and of creative work happens below awareness. I also experience listening to musical compositions such as chamber work or symphony in my mind. Sometimes an interruption happens and I pick up the work later in its progression.
