18 months on spiro

Post by helen (imported) »

I confess to feeling far less knowledgeable than others, based upon the excellent, educated posts I read. Let me share my experience with anti androgens for whatever value it may have for others.

I am 61, married, and have been transvestite/transgendered over 55 years. Fetish issues had always plagued me-familiar scenario-dress up, get aroused, release, guilt, undress-. I rare have had a good sexual relationship with women. I adore them, but it has never truly worked out for any duration.

For complex reasons that perhaps a truly good shrink could determine, I have this testicle dislike/anti testosterone mindset. Very common on this site to be sure!

About 18 months ago I started taking spiro. had a tough time initially-urination pain, etc. That went away over time. Currently I take 200 mg a day and 1/4 a 5 mg fincar pill (from wonderful Inhouse Pharmacy). I don't have much or any sexual libido. With concentration, I can arouse myself and experience a 'girlgasm' as another coined it-but only clear prostate fluid is ejaculated, if I can call that small discharge.

I do note slower beard regrowth, finer body hair, and much less, very little body odor, some breast enlargement (might be from the estrogen patches I took last summer, but stopped due to super sensitive nipples, too much showing. I do have somewhat tubular breasts--38A- with pouty nipples. This, to be frank, is a bit of a problem-have to be careful with T shirts that aren't oversized. I think my rear patch -male pattern baldness-has stopped enlarging and maybe some fine hair regrowth, but it may be wishful thinking!

I love my little girls, still dislike the brats, and wish I could arrange an orchi, but would be content with significant shrinkage, which, alas hasn't been the result with the spiro. I presume my penis may be shrinking due to no having nocturnal erections--I wear panties and a nightie and before this combination would produce a firm erection--smooth fabric gliding, etc. I do feel far more content--maybe like a eunuch calm whatever that exactly is. I sense my mild hypertension is reduced-stays in the normal range. I do worry about bone loss and take calcium pills.

I wonder if a different med would help with the shrinkage desire? I appreciate the intelligent posts. best, helen

Hi Helen,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with spiro. I have been on it since mid-February of 2008. Before that, I was on Androcur starting in November of 2007.

I noticed significant breast enlargement on spiro which I did not get with Androcur. Sounds like you are happy with the breast enlargement so that works out well.

Nearly four months on spiro alone still left me with a total testosterone level of 500. I was in shock when I heard this because that is still in the mid-range of what is 'normal' for a male. Spiro is not a very potent anti-androgen, at least not for me! So I tend to doubt you will get much testicular shrinkage with spiro.

I have had continuing body hair reduction since I switched from Androcur to spiro, which is wonderful. The minor breast enlargement I got from spiro has been accelerated by the estrogen I have been taking since early June, 2008. I now have significant testicular shrinkage.

All persons whether they be men, eunuchs or women or something else entirely :) should be concerned about bone loss as they age. Taking calcium pills is a good thing. Are you getting weight-bearing exercise besides, like walking? Things like bicyling don't count because you are not bearing your own weight. You might want to ask for a testosterone test if you see a physician. If your level is really low, you are certainly at higher risk for osteoporosis.

Hugs,

Danya
