If I still had them and still had insurance, hell yes. Had I known of Kimmel I would have spent the $2,000. Of course my food bills would have been higher due to the quality of restaurants in Philidelphia. Brunch at the museum is wonderful.

A quick check with an acquaintance who does medical billing indicated that a bi-lateral orchiectomy in this area would cost about $6000 done at a hospital and about $4000 at a day surgery center. In 1976/1977 I could have had it done in a doctor's office for $150. --FLO--

I might. I don't really know. I like sexual desire, but, if I were a danger to other human beings because of that desire, I would consider castration. I was blessed for a long time with a lover and wife who loved me sexually. I cannot adequately say how wonderful a blessing that was.

Dr. kimmel also offers a $250 discount for those in financial hardship. i looked online and the average cost for a vasectomy is about $700. Dr. kimmel is the only MD in the US who performs castration on demand. I dont think he is taking advatage because he could charge a lot more. The surgeons in thailand charge about the same as kimmel. Do you think their prices are more likely determined by comparing what dr kimmel charges or determined by their costs of the surgery and making it worth thier while ?
Those costs sound reasonable. I think he could charge more. Gosh, I have great dental insurance but almost everything involving co-pay is just damm expensive. I could easily spend much more on some dental work that what Dr. Kimmel charges.

So you feel that a lack of testosterone would cause you to lose your sexual arousal. What do you feel when you are aroused? Do you feel anxious, overwhelmingly nervous? I guess what I'm asking is what does "being sexual" mean to you? And if losing your ability to have an erection would decrease that ability, why are you interested in the subject/fantasy? If you don't mind I'm a really curious person.

What a bunch of freaks, I swear-

You don;t seem to have read my earlier posts on this forum.

A low level of testosterone did just that--it wrecked my libido. For some interval my level was close to zero (I think that is what the doctor said). I have frequently posted about that experience.

The side-effects of antidepressant medication reduced my libido. It did not, for some reason, affect my ability to have erections. I just did not bother to have them very often. I have never thought about being sexual as being anxious. In fact, feeling sexual makes me feel alive.

When I do feel sexual, I desire making love with women I find attractive. I enjoy making love. But, on medication, I lack that desire.

I have posted about this in considerable detail. I posted a long series of reports about being off medication earlier this year and a few about returning to medication. I don't repeat the details because I don't want to bore regular visitors.

Castration seems undesirable to me, but I understand why some folks would want castration. Maybe feeling desire takes too much effort. Maybe it takes time away from other endeavors. Maybe one does not find lovers. I don't know. I know that desire to hurt someone would be a motivation to seek castration for some people.

To get back to the original question the answer would be a definite yes.
chilliwilli (imported) wrote: Mon Jul 28, 2008 2:53 pm I wonder how many men would get castrated if it were a free service or covered by medi-cal or medicaid. I guess that covering the procedure is indirectly condoning and accepting the eunuch lifestyle. Maybe acceptance would be the emptitous many men would need more than not paying the two or three grand.

I guess I'm not really that hung up on it anymore...but I'd probably do it if it were covered by insurance. Kinda like a body image, sexual identity thing.

I will also say "definitely yes", if it is covered by an insurance company. The times of 1996 with costs of 160 $ are passed. But I think costs of 500 or 600 $ would be ok and I will it pay directly without disturbing, annoying letters with my insurance.

Perhaps there is a chance and times will change, even in Germany....

I certainly would! Someday this may happen for everyone who wants it if a good national health plan ever takes place.

Only $50 more? I never thought to ask my urologist about orchiectomy at that time....🔨

If it were covered, I would have had it done by now! It does cost a lot depending on what a persons financial situation is, and I agree with Randy's earlier post, that if a person wants it that bad, they will save up to have it done no matter what.
