This true story contains a couple of encounters with Indian eunuchs who show the author the scars from having their genitals removed, and talk a bit about the operation. One eunuch said he couldn't walk for 40 days afterwards. The operation is performed without anaesthetic, and they use boiling oil to cauterize the wound:
