Celebrities?

Post by noxmagnus (imported) »

Have any celebrities or people in the public Eye come out as eunuches or transexuals?

Have any actively lent support either for or against it?

What about female circumcision? Any come out as having it or actively lent support for or against it?

I don't know of any celebrities who have announced they were eunuchs, but Lance Armstrong lost a testicle to cancer IIRC. There are many famous transsexuals in show business.

As far as female circ goes, the only person I recall talking about it directly is Alice Walker (the author who wrote "The Color Purple" and other books). She is decidedly in the Anti-camp. It seems that I remember as a child seeing some celebrities on Oprah discussing the barbaric practice and showing some (censored) footage taken in tribal Africa.

The ones that do exist rather remain private, because of how the majority of the people look down on people like us if it is medical or something somone needed wanted or resented.

It is really all the same I think.

Actor/Director Bill Bixby had a bilateral orchiectomy secondary to his prostate cancer. He later died from the disease.
