hey i was a friend of Todds and was wondering how i could contact him as a close friend has passed and would like to inform him

I too knew Todd. He and I argued a lot about piercing and body mod techniques, but we always respected each other's views. Todd, however, was very much a self-promoter and that is what led to his downfall. Many of us tried to tell him that his high profile and cutting edge mods made him a target. He did not listen.

I do not know if it is a good idea to try and contact Todd. The feds have him in a very tightly watched situation and I suspect that attempts to contact him will cause one unwanted attention from nasty and unethical folks.

By the way, it is cruel and unusual punishment to deny a prisoner in the U.S. Federal Penal System the right to send and to recieve mail.

Since whatever relationship Todd had with Robyn is apparently over, and he may not have had a lot of close friends from America where he is jailed, he would probably appreciate a pen pal. Be aware, however, that mail going into and out of federal correctional facilities is inspected and usually read.

Don't be afraid to establish contact, if you are his freind or if you just want to correspond with him. I would imagine that what "Lose Them" says about Pelican Bay is true and that Todd probably has put himself into Protective Management, (read solitary) by now because of the other inmates and if this is the case he spends his days in a 4' X 8' cell 23 hours a day only getting out for exercise.

People in jail, regardless of the crime committed, need an established human friend to contact them occasionally. Otherwise, they come out worse individuals than they were when they went in.

For the record, Pelican Bay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pelican_Bay_State_Prison) (click link) is a facility run by the California Department of Corrections, not the Feds.

Once you read the information in the link, you'll understand why I was puzzled back in April 2008 as to why Todd ended up there. Seriously, is trumped up kiddie porn something that warrants being put in that place? I don't think so.

They put him in a prison where California sends the worst of the worst - those people they believe pose a high security risk and a huge threat to society. Even convicted murderers on California's death row are sent elsewhere.

I repeat what I said, it is inadvisable to try and contact Todd. Shortly after he was imprisoned, he contacted Shannon and told him to pass on this information. The very people who entrapped him are still around and still looking for his associates.

All that A-1 says is true, but the circumstances are such that Todd himself suggested not contacting him directly. There are ways to get a message to him, but one needs to know his way around an element that would not look kindly on most of the members here.

I was never in Pelican Bay. I was a federal prisoner, not state. California state refused to prosecute us. For anyone interested, I was in Santa Ana City jail for 7 months, then San Bernadino County Jail for 13 months, The Lompoc Federal Low in Lompoc California for 2 and 1/2 months, then transferred to Coleman Low in Florida for the rest of my sentence. I served 3 years probation, from which I was released this past June 9th 2011. I am now free and clear. I was never charged with praticing medicine without a license. #1, that is a state, not federal statute and #2, what I did was not illegal under California laws. failing to imprison us for something I actually did, irregardless of the fact I said no to underage genital "multilation" (the irony of that is that I have turned down close friends when asked to do facial piercings on their underage children!), we were put in a situation where I felt forced into plea bargaining to save our lives. We never went to trial and any federal trial is a sham. Don't believe me? I hope you never have to find out the truth.
