Unusual problem with Androcur, need help...

Post by wybi1985 (imported) »

Hello!

I come from Germany but I currently live in Poland. I'm average experienced in chemical castration: I'm taking Androcur for 3 months, supplemented by Tamoxifen. Now I take 50mg/day of Androcur and 10mg/day of Tamoxifen.

Those drugs work - I don't feel sexual arousal and rarely have erections.

But, You must know, that in Poland distribution of Androcur is highly controled by government (Restricted Drugs List). It can be prescribed ONLY in special reasons - it can't be bought in drugstore or hospital.

Of course I buy it from some foreign dealers, but it is too expensive for me - I want to cut my dose of Androcur to 25mg/day for money reasons.

I wonder if that dose (25mg/day) will be sufficient to keep my lowered libido and can I supplement those drugs by Flutamide to have a better result (flutamide is commonly available in Poland and also cost-free). And what dosage of flutamide should I take, if it is useful.

Thank's for your advises.

I looked at several web sites about flutamide. Looks like there is risks in this drug higher then many of the other anti androgens. It seems to be used for prostrate cancer. Most castration type drugs are use for this purpose. Looks like you need to be monitored closely by a doctor and liver risks seem to be high. Have not heard of anyone using this drug so I have no input on how well it works. The web sites seem to have the desired effects of a castration type of drug. I would suggest finding out a lot more about the side effects of flutamide. May not be a drug that can be used without a doctor helping with tests.

Looks like this drug would give you the desired effects that androcur would give. You may not even need androcur. A reduced dose of androcur could work with the drug, but I would only be guessing for I have no experience of flutamide.

Hope you can find someone with more information on the drug. Wish you the best on your quest.

Thank you very much Bobbie for your advise. I'm glad to hear that there is a possible solution of my problem. About Flutamide's side effects I heard, that it may cause some liver damages and depression. I'm taking some SSRI's to maintain my mood and I can have medical tests without a problem (they are cost-free in Poland). But I still don't know how should I take flutamide (or if I should take it).

Does anyone knows how strong is Flutamide's libido-lowering effect and how shall I dose it?

I really bank on you :)

I did some more searching on the drug. I find very many of the sites have warnings on the top of the page on bad side effects. Most drugs I do not see warnings being so high on the listing. Seems like you need to have a doctor monitor your blood very much while on this drug. It seems to have a great chance of causing liver damage. The drug seems to work well on controlling the hormone. The liver damage risks seem to be far greater then most other drugs I have looked at.

I would stay away from this one. That is my personal opinion.

Thank you again Bobbie :) I also found some informations: I know, that there is a medroxyprogesterone injection available in my country - it names Depo-Provera. In Poland we have only a version with 150mg/ml. Do you know how often should I take it (some dosage information)? And may I take it without Androcur, holding my lowered-libido? I also wonder how to incject Depo-Provera if it works, I need some instruction where and in which way should I inject it :)

Thank you for your help

Depo-Provera is a very common drug that is used by a great many in this site. Their is many treads that talk about the use of this drug. It is one of the more prescribed drugs used in the states to reduce testosterone as far as I know. I only know of the drug and not in any way able to give any incite on the usage or dose. Hope some one will be able to help in that.

You can do a search of Depo-Provera and all the threads that have the drug named in it will be shown. The search function is in the blue bar near the top of this screen.

I had to lower my dose to 25mg when I was taking it, 50mg was still causing depression and still had me castrated fully.

25mg will work depending on your body chemistry, it will certainly hold it off for MANY MANY months, as it takes a long time to recover from Androcur (2 months usually)
