I do wish all who choose Kimmel the best of luck. You will probably need it.

I feel a bit bad saying my account of the office again. To answer some questions.

I was told to shave myself.

The surgery was done on a rusty antique exam table, That had dried blood on it in places.

Floors filthy.

Cluttered messes where seen throughout the room.

Tray's of unclean instruments appeared to sook in tinged fluids.

Pain. Twitching. Extra injections out of a vial that had appeared to have been already used on another.

Bloody fingers & hands touching things throughout the room & returning to my crotch.

Instrument falls to filthy floor to be picked up and returned to use within my incision.

Some strange man peeking in threw-out operation.

I had wire stichs. 3. I had been told to "clip" off myself with small clippers such as "toenail clippers". I went to a doctor back home to get them removed.

I walked back to the Best Western. This hotel was a horrible experience, from the time of check in to checkout. If you want more details on this dilapidated hotel i can fill you in.

Let me close with reiterating that i had no other option than to get the surgery. Thus i bit my lip and went to the only doctor i could find to help me.

I just had a surgical castration because of prostate cancer and there are two routes that the doctor may take to remove your testicles. There is the most direct route, through the scrotum, and there is another technique involving an incision at the bikini line. Your testicles are pushed up and through and removed in that manner. My doctor and I chose the scrotum approach as the most direct route and I was back to work in less than a week. I drive truck locally which involved a lot of walking, hooking and unhooking semi trailers and I've had no problems whatsoever. The only discomfort I had (I took very little pain medication, maybe 2 vicodin) was the stitch (1) which got hooked on the tape and pulled from time to time. I have since removed the tape and will have the stitch removed this week at the Dr.'s office. Its pretty simple and straightforward. If your considering implants (fake testicles). . .if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have bothered. Good luck, Hotflash

Many in my family have gotten prostate cancer and the ones that dont get bph so bad the prostate has to be removed sugically

my great grandfather my grandfather both had cancer along with many of my uncles

my father had bph so bad it almost killed him

his heart quit on the table during a roto rooter operation

my prostate started to swell when i was 40...i decided to be castrated and got it done

best thing i ever did...i am on hrt and it has no effect on my prostate..the prostate just stays extremely small

The way i was castrated did not allow for implants..after 15 years I know now I would not want them...I and my wife never missed the testicles at all.

Look it ok I'm not ofended. Please don't be offended by my opinions either. I think you might be mistaken however about this guys setup. It just doesn't sound right. Before I had my Orchiectomy I read everything I could about how it was done and talked in detail with several doctors.

I think scrotal Orchiectomy is just bad to start with. Dangling cords are full of sore nerves that often try to reconnect to somthing and as a guy who had this done because of pain issues I would say a loud NO WAY to that approach. Surgery should not be a horror show. If Plix and Zee's experience is even half right? Holy crap... I would run from such a place. A weird looking guy peeking in while they are doing the surgery? What the "F" is that about? My Surgeon noted changing gloves often. I asked to be awake to see the OR before they put me out. It was spotless. The instruments (that I saw) looked new or at least were perfectly clean. Shaving yourself? Not even allowed! And for what I think sounds like a good logical reason.

On what another poster said on implants. I am pro implants and think that it made this a much more positive experience for me. I think the choice of implants is very critical however. The most common used types are the Mentor/Coloplasts and (in my opinion) they are the worst for a couple of reasons. But thats a different thread.

Anyway I'll say one more thing. Dr K might be the only one to do this surgery on demand but there are lots of others who will do it with only a minimum of hassle. Maybe a couple of letters from your GP and a Shrink that say in short your not insane / going to claim you didn't understand what was involved and sue them later. I think its worth jumping through a few hoops to get this done right in a clean place without pain / infection. And by right I suggest it be the type where the cords are removed with the testicles up as high as possible.

It might be wrong to draw conclusions based on a couple of reports like this but I think its at least food for thought. And MAYBE you want to ask to get a tour and ask some really hard questions before your on your back in the OR.

Just my 2 cents worth...

Well said. And btw I was not offended by your comments either I think its really good that people who have gone to various places share the experience. At least it saves people from walking in and being shocked.
