side effects survey

Post by randy (imported) »

im going to have a orchiectomy in may and im not planning on going on HRT and i know the side effects. here is the survey part of it, if you had 100 points to divvy out, rank the side effects that most effected you, post castration, and divvy out the points according to the severity and difficulty associated with each side effect you experienced.

for example

depression 45

osteoporosis 20

weight gain 10

muscle mass loss 10

lethargy 10

hot flashes 5

and also i would like to know how you dealt with each one to manage it. as i said im not going on HRT so im mainly interesting in natural curse thru diet and exercise. but knowing anyway you dealt with any of your side effects would greatly help me out in my future. thank you

love and peace

Only things on your list that I have noticed are, lethargy and hot flashes. Not sure how to rate them. Since I was never a very muscular guy, no noticeable loss there. Since I was fully mentally prepared to become a eunuch, no depression either.

Everyone will have a different slant on this - not sure you will find out much other than some, all, or none of the above factors will apply to you once you are an eunuch.

Side effects were one of the areas addressed in the first Eunuch Archive survey. Four articles have been published in medical journals so far to discuss the results. PDF copies of the articles are available to anyone who sends me a <<Private Message>> and provides an email address that can accept such files.

I'll even mail hard copies (autographed, or not, as you wish) to anyone who wants to send me their snail-mail address.

As well, there are numerous threads dedicated to the side effects, which you should definitely read if you have not already. They would tend to answer most of your questions regarding type and severity of side effects experienced by others.

Among them... Castration Primer (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=10168), Consequences of Castration (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4616), and quite a few others.

As others above me in the thread have already said, read the threads and learn. Being an eunuch and living and going through the changes I would like to add. You can read all of what is written in this site and in all the medical book. Talk at great lengths with guys that are eunuchs. But The only true way that you will have any real way to have a true understanding on just how castration will effect your life is to do chemical castration first. The effects are different with each person. Having meet many eunuch in person I have not found any two that had the same results. Every one of them expected that the lack of testosterone would effect them in certain ways. All found that many other ways were effected as well. Often not in ways they wanted or expected. I think I am very safe in saying that every eunuch was surprised in some of the effects or the degree of the effects. Many guys had no plans on ever going on any HRT. Many have found that they need at least some testosterone in their systems and end up taking HRT any ways.

I wish you the best and hope that the decision you have made has been thought of in a realistic manor for a while.

Life will be much diffrent, and for sure you never know the outcome.

I'm not sure why no one wants to answer your survey, and give you a ration of crap to boot. If they didn't like you asking they could of just ignore it. Anyhow, I'm chemically castrated and here is my answer.

depression 0

osteoporosis 0

weight gain 5

muscle mass loss 50

lethargy 40

hot flashes 5

I've rated these as to the effect they have on my life.

I think this is a perfectly reasonable question, and I will try my best to give you an answer.

loss of libido/ability - 50

feminization (covers skin changes, muscle mass loss, fat increase, body hair, boobs, etc.) - 20

weight gain - 20

lethargy - 10

I have never been tested for osteo, and I have always had a chronic low-level depression that has become neither better nor worse with castration. I have never been off some type of HRT for more than a couple months, so that is probably why hot flashes and lethargy have not been bigger issues for me.

I have attempted to take T to remedy some of these effects, but my success has been limited. The only way I know it's even doing anything is body hair and acne are coming back. My skin remains feminine and fatty, and the weight won't come off. Libido is pretty much nil, although function has been improving. I have never dealt much with natural remedies, so I am afraid I won't be much help there.

Of course as others have said, that is only my list. Yours could and probably will be a lot different.

Hope I helped :)
