One day larger-scale versions of these will roam the streets, mounted by storm troopers, in the employ of the powerful, to keep the common peasant-folk in line.

Looks like I'm going to have to get to work on that 4 megawatt laser pulse rifle.

(It's what he does. It's ALL he does!)

Too slow (at least for now). But looks promising.

But some quick drying glue or a modified microwave oven would stop this thing very quickly.

No need for high powered laser weapons. ;)

It is a bit scary especially considering DARPA (http://www.darpa.mil/) is funding the research. I guess we need a program like DARPA to keep us a step or two ahead of the enemy. I just hope our Government never decides "We the People" are the enemy. They are at least still allowing us to have "Free Speech Zones" for the time being, which I think is rather nice of them.

Wow.

Assuming the company researched and attempted several different methods of locomotion, I find it quite neat that the best way for this ''dog'' to work was to use, in fact, what nature and evolution worked out to be the best method; four legs, articulating just like a dog (and other highly effective mammals). I don't know why, but that somehow seems significant... one would have thought they would devote all their time to trying to improve on the basic design.

Kewl.

This machine looks a bit similar to the walking John Deere tractor that was developed in Finland.

I hate to say this Jema but I gueess you don't fly much or travel around the nation on Amtrak either. TSA a part of Dept. of Home;and Secuirty is doing exactly that. The so called Patriot Act gives broad powers of search and seizure to goverment agencies no matter if they are fed or state. You can now be arrested and detained for not having ID on you at all times under the Patriot Act, in the past probable casue neede to be had to search a person not anymore under the act anyone at anytime may be oredered to submit to a search of thier person, vehicle home witout a search warretnor having probable cause. The Bush administration knowing that the magic words of protecting you against terrorists gave them carte blanche to nullify and eradicate your rights under the constitution and bill of rights. At the same time thay have done nothing to secure our borders at all instead they do treat and consider the American public to be the enemy. Oh by the way the phrase homeland security was used first by good old Adolph Hitler to stir up the public agaisnt a false enemy the Polish people. While I am not saying al quedia is not a threat the goverment has instead decided to treat loyal americans as the threat. Seriously I fly into Kansas a lot to see family and security is tighter there then at JFk, LAX ETc. What do Arab Terrorists suddenly pop up from tunnels in the middle of the nation?
