Posting Email Addresses on Boards

Post by Paolo »

In a word, don't.

You're just asking for spambots to find it.

If you want to post your email address, do it like this:

UserID at whateverdomain dot com

Not like this: UserID@whateverdomain.com

Any more posts with normally shown email addresses will simply be pulled, not edited.

Spank you very much.

Thanks for that advice. I never would have thought about how a "spambot" could have harvested my e-mail address like that.

It seems to me that it would be fairly easy to make a bot that could recognize an email address in the form above. People might want to do something like add an extra word and then in the next sentence tell people what word to remove.

Also, if you post you email address, it can be googled. just for fun, google your own email and see what pops up...

I have quite a few e-mail addresses and none show up in a google search.

I must be too stealthy! LOL
