Since being surgically castrated, I am having difficulty doing the daily Sudoku puzzles in the newspaper. Crossword puzzle solving is not affected. It seems as if my math/logic/3D thinking has been altered or diminished by a lack of Testosterone.

I know that there is a difference in the male versus female brain with regards to logic and math ability. How much difference does Testosterone make?

Does anyone else report having such an experience?

I dont know, but I do know I was alot smarter before I recieved my lower testosterone, I just seemed so aware and so smart and now I feel like so dead like nothing matters, it seems the days drag on and nothing matters anymore

I almost feel like a female in the sense I dont have that logical thinking anymore where females are more about emotions and guys are more about logic, definetly miss that along with all the other benefits of a higher testosterone

My advice is to have yourself checked for depression. Some of your physical symptoms could also stem from that cause. --FLO--

perhaps I suffer from that as well as well of a life of regret and pain but i know I have a very low test now just based on how I feel, I just dont know how some of you are able to function without hrt, I feel dead now I would like to function as I hate taking medication/supplements but my body is basically telling me to die or stay away from society

Regarding "I feel dead now..........."

Due to some outpatient surgery and recovery I did not apply my testosterone gel for 10 days. WOW. I was amazed at how tired and run down I got. It was not just as simple as being tired, it was more like totally worn out, deflated, exhausted, not wanting to do anything. The exhaustion was mental, physical, and emotional.

It took about 7 days from time I stopped the gel until the negative impact of low T started to affect me.

I am back on schdule now. It only took 3 days to get rid of the run down, run over feelings.

True, without the gel I felt calmer, and lost EMHO (early morning hard on). That was fine. But the heavy duty 3 way exhaustion (mental, emotional, physical) made for a very unacceptable quality of life. Maybe it is something that one can work through and get over with in time but I won't dare to find out.

I was surprised as how relatively quickly stopping and re-starting T gel had an impact.

Notalife: When you are down and out it is hard to pick yourself up, but do try. It's worth the effort. Feeling good is worth the effort.

No depression here, thank goodness! Also, no observable loss of energy. But my logic center doesn't seem to function as well as it used to. Otherwise, I am just as ornery as alwyas - no "eunuch calm" at least not yet.

I'm going to sound like that broken record but here goes....

For me my Low Testosterone almost = Depression diagnosis and serious meds. I know there are exceptions to the rule but most men with low to no testosterone are going to feel awful. Its a good reason to speak to your doctor and get on a good form of HRT.

If I understand this right depression that is "cured" by HRT is not the same sort of depression as a typical mental patient has. If you go on HRT for a while and it doesn't help then by all means look into mental health care solutions. But do HRT first.

My lack of motivation--that's something else altogether! 😄

Glad to hear you are feeling well some type of HRT would normally be needed by your body for your well being.

I have no longer been though depressed.

I can understand how you feel antisocial after having such a problem of this, I felt the same way for a long time, find somone you can talk to counceling may help a Psychologist or Psychatrist may understand as well, this can be quite difficult to deal with however, I would not let it bring you down to a low level like this and hope that you can life yourself up.

It can be very dissapointing and if your hormones just dropped off the edge like this perhaps the Dr's can help get you more back to normal, this is something that took a little while some guys have a complete recovery partial and almost always the Dr can try and help you or refer you to another who can. I remember you saying that you did not want injections Testosterone etc perhaps something can be done to help you with this however I would definatley not give up and take a day at a time. More guys like us exist at younger ages, so you are not alone, and you should feel welcome here, I know you had said you do not know if this is a place for you, I think it could be very helpful and a good place to gain knowledge as well as support from others it is nice to meet somone in a similar or same situation you have been in or were in and try to help them out.

I forgot to mention earlier that I have lots of hot flashes. The worst ones come at night and interfere with sleep. They do seem to be calming down somewhat after almost 6-weeks.
