flash player

Post by tjstill (imported) »

Is it possible to save to my harddrive Flash player videos as those found on Xtube. There are a couple of good elastrator play vids on there (I have mentioned in other posts). They will, I am sure, disapear at some stage and I would like to save a copy. I did check the details about flash player9 but of course it was of little help. Maybe this is something I should not be doing or asking about due to copyright etc. Advice apreciated:)🙋

There are several that will allow you to download those videos. This is one: http://www.sothinkmedia.com/ They have a free trial offer, and I think there are others that are freeware. Do a search, and you should be able to find them.

"Video downloader", an add on for Firefox, USED to work until they released V2.0

Now it just sits and does nothing...

So don't fall for that one.

Get the Sothink's update out for the latest version of Firefox, and it should still work. I did, and it does.

no no no, forget all those firefox addons. they just don't work.

I've used every last one available to find that out.

this one works very well.

http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/

it works for xtube, pornotube, googlevideo, youtube, and alot of other sites. just make sure the vid is fully loaded before you try to download it.

Thanks for the guidence, I downloaded the free version from sothink and tried it last night. Unfortunatly no matter what I did it would not download the video content from Xtube only the player main page. It was like i was capturing the blank player and no content. I am not ususally too bad at sorting outstuff like this so I will keep trying and maybe alsotry another downloader that people have suggested. Thanks again for the help. 🙏

I use "Magic's Video Downloader" add-on for Firefox (latest version), which works well as long as server traffic isnt too high. I'm using Linux, however, and I'm not sure if there is a Windows version.

Also there is "Unplug" firefox extension, but I haven't tested it on Xtube.

PS. Or you can take network packet sniffer 😄, catch the video url and needed referer and pass them to the download software. (I have done this once, but wouldn't want to repeat - too much trouble).

I wanted to update the people who have responded and to also ask once again for expert advice.

I have downloaded Youtube downloader as WolfpucK suggested. I didnt have much luck with Sothink software. I have successfully downloaded a video from Youtube, about 9Mb, so I guess the content is there. It is an FLV format file (flash). No problem, I though, but now I have the video file I cannot open it. I downloaded flash v9 instaler onto my desk top and virus checked it then I installed Flash v9. It is siting in Windows system 32 Macromedia. There is a program called flash player helper that is about 280Kb and 4 files of around 2Mb each. No matter how I try to open the video download with the flash program nothing happens. I have begun to run out of ideas what to check next. any advice anyone has would be apreciated. I am using Windows XP and IE explorer. Thanks again, hope I am not boring you all :)

Try FLV Player 2.0. It does a fine job on flash video.
